"Lovely place sister spot to the Pantry in Stockbridge which has long been a favourite haunt of ours. Every time we’ve come here with our wee one, staff have been friendly welcoming there is a toy corner upstairs which is fab . Brunch menu is limited but excellent service is great without fail. Our one complaint is the lack of accessibility there are steep narrow steps into the restaurant up into the main seating area. There appears to be no disabled toilet unless we missed it? Happy to be corrected... The baby change is in the women’s toilet please put these in the men’s too! is a pull down affair that is very hard to spot with no signage . Stalls are tiny you can barely fit yourself in to change your baby I had to stand outside the stall pic attached . Ironic given there’s a sign by the play area saying that you can’t change your baby there. Hard to believe in 2019 that a restaurant could continue to be this inaccessible especially when it bills itself as ‘family friendly’. In every other respect it’s fab the food is wonderful but disappointing in terms of inclusion in other respects."

We originally had a reservation at Finn Bear but we ended up canceling it due to changed plans. Despite this, we still ended up dining at the restaurant later that day and enjoyed a delicious lunch in Leith.

The food at this restaurant may be good, but the drinks are not recommended. I visited on a Friday and the bar was crowded with everyone trying to order. The system in place required customers to sit down and wait for their drinks, resulting in a 20-minute wait for a pint.

This used to be a fairly bog-standard pub frequented by summer stag parties looking for nose-bag food. One to be avoided. Now a very friendly gastro-pub with nice staff and great service. Super location and dog-friendly. Now attracting families for food rather than stags for drinks. Nice.

We've been on several occasions in recent years. The most recent renovation is charming, and the food in general is quite good. The presentation is great, it is a shame that my eggs Benedict had a tough egg.The service can be a bit irregular, but in general it is a good place for brunch. Dogs are also allowed:

The restaurant offers delicious dishes with options for vegans and vegetarians. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. Located by the river, it is easily accessible. We plan on returning again. The staff were all accommodating and patient, despite our difficulty in making a decision due to the extensive menu options.

I made a reservation for a table for 5 using the OpenTable app, but there was no mention of children not being allowed after 8pm. Even their website stated that children were welcome. When we arrived, we were refused our table because we had kids with us. This was disappointing, especially since the restaurant is supposed to be child friendly. Edinburgh is a city for families, so it's unfortunate that the restaurant doesn't see it that way.

My daughter and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time for lunch, but we left feeling disappointed. It wasn't very busy, with only two tables occupied by diners. However, our food took 30 minutes to arrive. I ordered a cheeseburger and chips, but was surprised to receive just a small tin plate containing only the burger and chips - no salad or any other side dishes. The chips were good, but the burger had no taste at all. I was charged £11.50 for this disappointing meal, and I have no plans to return in the future.

Four of us went to a Sunday brunch. We have been there before and we also go regularly to the pantry, which is closer to us, but we decided to return to Finn Bear after about 12-15 months since the last time. Surprised to see that the French toast was very greasy, I am not sure if it was covered with egg as it should be or at least not with the correct technique. Result: a very heavy and greasy breakfast that made us drink a liter of water each. I'm not sure if this particular choice was defective or if something has changed, but given the presumptuous attitude of some of your waitress, I would think twice before I came back. The pantry is much better, I'm not sure what they do differently i...

We ate here the other night with Gills' son. To have eaten here before we knew it would be a good experience. The place was very busy when we arrived, but immediately they showed us a table and served us drinks immediately. The menu is quite good with a varied selection of fish and fries. . . satay chicken, Benedictine eggs with various ornaments, burgers, etc. We all chose something different. . . fish and fries, egg and satay. . . I had the satay that was delicious served in a very nice salad along with a portion of halloumi chips. . I also had some fish and fries and Benedict eggs were delicious. . . they certainly looked good. The food was carefully prepared, fresh, well presented and kne...
