"On off, over a period of more than 30 years I have enjoyed the hospitality of this fine pub restaurant. Whilst the menu, food, presentation environment ambiance were all excellent this review is more about the first class service. The manager clearly knows her stuff as the young people she has employed trained; our waitress, the young man, on only his second shift, and others that served us were so polite professional I’m going to say this was amongst the best service, in all categories, I have ever experienced. Well done!"

"The pub isn't bad at all; it's actually evolving to become more of a restaurant, to be honest. We were on our way to 'Fords of Winsford'..."

I had a wonderful Sunday lunch here last year, but since then, the restaurant has changed ownership. I'm looking forward to visiting again and will share my thoughts once I do!

Fantastic roast, we visited as a family of 6 adults and 2 toddlers. The food was of a very high standard, as was the service. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our waitress was very pleasant and the staff in general were so nice. Will be back! (table booked Sunday 13th March, surname Towers 1.15pm please pass additional thanks to staff)

We had a fantastic experience after the lockdown; the atmosphere felt very safe and welcoming, and the food was outstanding—I was in black pudding heaven! It was heartwarming to see other customers smiling once seated, free from masks. This restaurant truly felt like a sanctuary in these chaotic times. Thank you for making our wedding anniversary such a delightful occasion!

I visited the Fox and Barrel last night, and I was very impressed. The staff were exceptional—welcoming and attentive—and the food was delightful. The atmosphere had the lively yet organized feel of a well-run establishment, and I would happily recommend it to others. We enjoyed the fish and chips, but I've heard from reliable sources that the sausage and mash is incredible, so I will definitely be returning soon to give it a try!

a beautiful pub on the a49 in cotebrook. a warm welcome and the best of care throughout the evening, nothing was too much annoyed for the staff. we were a group of 9 and every cure was served very efficiently, so we could all start together and there was exactly the right time between the curses for us to really enjoy our meal. a very good selection of foods available for every cure and children's menu. everyone was thrilled with his decisions. a great place for a special celebration.

We had a delicious meal with great service in a beautiful location. We started with the olive and hummus nibbles, followed by the delightful fertile and mint soup. For our main courses, we enjoyed the baby gammon, burger, and fish and chips. We also paired our dishes with various wines and coffees. For dessert, we sampled the delightful crème brûlée, white chocolate cake, and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. I highly recommend this restaurant!

"Visited, based on recommendation from one of its sister pubs (The Bears Paw). Looks very nice from approach and inside and very comfortable seats offered. Menu looked very nice and proved difficult to decide. Starters: I went for the Ox Cheek, which I 've had elewhere and usually proves delicious. Unfortunately, although it turned up promptly and looking nicely presented, it proved to be 75% jelatanous fat, which, of course, is very disappointing given the price of starters alone (photo attached). I know 'fats ' can add to the taste, but this was not what was expected given previous servings. My wife didn 't opt for a starter, but we shared a goats cheese flatbread (also as shown). This was very nice and by no means disappointing. Mains: I went for the 'A la Plancha ' Bacon Joint with marmalade glaze and fried egg. Again, it looked nicely presented and tasted very nice indeed. Just (again) disappointed, by the overly thick layer of jelatanous fat. This could have potentially been made into a cracking, but ended up being an inch thick slab of leftovers. Otherwise, the meal was lovely. The dear wife went for the 'Peruvian marinated Chicken Burger ', served with hand cut fries and a delicious, if not perplexing, green sauce mayonnaise. (I just wish I ordered what she did). Dessert: I went for the ye olde traditional Banoffe Knickerbocker Glory, and the wife had the Elderflower Creme Brulee. Both were very nice and washed down with pleasing drinks. Bill was, as expected, very expensive. Moreso given the disappointing starter and main for myself. A 'discrete ' 7.5% tip is automatically added, so be aware. Yes, the service was great, but if I visit again, I 'll definitely reconsider the options. Aimed a bit more towards the 'la dee daa ' side of Cheshire "
