"of all the restaurants I have visited lately, this has the best background history. Built in 1906 as a public toilet for the English garden, it fulfilled its purpose for many years. Finally, the building acquired a call for drug trafficking and other illegal activities, and it was officially nailed with boards and the decaying priced years ago, the overgrown ruins excited the attention of the native sandra and henning dürr, who somehow had the vision to bring this decaying English garden moahn back to a public use as a restaurant. to have a vision is a thing, but to realize this vision is something completely different. sandra and henning stood the building of the city in the way that had to give them the permission to occupy the plot to advance their plan. they soon realized that this permission would not be easy to obtain. as henning tells, it would never have happened without sandras's fucking determination. sandra addressed the problem with such stubbornness that the city eventually surrendered and granted the permission, even from no other reason than to stop sandra from calling them every day. after all papers were in order, the project started and the building was soon restored to its original appearance. henning has performed most of the work itself, and in 2011 the building was reopened. if they are there, note one of the few original details left from the original building, the sign “women” at the entrance of the women’s toilet. the restaurant is now a firm part of the neighbourhood and attracts a healthy lunch crowd from local businesses. tourist and surfers arriving from nearby eisbach. there are not many places where they can eat with such a diverse public at lunchtime. the lunch menu changes daily, based on what is available in front of the site, with two dressed as long as the stock is sufficient. sandra and henning live next to the local sweet market so that they can buy their products fresh daily. also for dessert or “coffee and cake” on the afternoon there is a large selection of homemade cakes and other tasty. the fräulein Grünis is open all year round. in the winter season a small wood stove in the main room is enough to keep all warm and with the cold comes the glowing wine season, for which it is worth defying the cold. the location in the English garden offers more advantages than just a beautiful location. first of all there is a constant push of wood from the local gardeners to heat the many of them all winter over. and henning told us that they also cultivate several beehives in the gardens and produce a continuous push of their own Fräulein-Grüneis honey. a great souvenir that they can take home from their lunch in the garden. After lunch, you should definitely look past the bridge over the eisbach. from the bridge they have a first-class look at the locals surfing on the famous stationary waves. the eisbach is the only river surf site in the world within a city. but this is a story for another time."
