"Having scoured Trip Advisor for inspiration and knowing my husband is a connoisseur of the traditional English fare of Fish and Chips, this was an out the way choice for me but alas, sometimes you have to put the husband first and give him what he wants. Fish and chips isn't up there on the first choices for me for sure but my....so glad I did. The decor is impressive, red clay brick outside which is traditional of Nottingham given the local soil content. And the inside you have to see for yourself....stunning and very creatively put together. Beach huts, a traditional yet contemporary bar, glass, rustic and modern. Love it.The food is just incredible. Some clever menu design with something for everything but be warned...a lot of deep fried items which in my opinion isn't a bad thing. Platters of interesting items like squid in Old Bay seasoning, runny scotch eggs, goats cheese fritters and then the classics such as fish and chips, all done exceptionally well. The fish taco was sublime with sweet potato chips and a garlic aioli and the mushy peas just perfect. I loved every mouthful and the service was just brilliant also with a very attentive host. My partner had traditional fish and chips....loved it. Twice cooked chips were stunning. They have a gin bar!! I gush because even though I try not to be a hipster and this is a hipster thing through and through, I ****** love him. No gin this time given it was lunch time (although I did quaff a couple of glasses of Sauvignon) but if I was there in the evening, I would be tapping that lot up.I can't recommend enough for something usual or something classical....British food at its finest and it speaks for itself. Not something you can usually say about our native fare I say, tongue in cheek of course. Fabulous! Ps no room for dessert but they do have candy floss on one of the desserts. I love this idea....fun should and can be fun. Next time I won't eat so much and will indulge...."

First visit and very impressed. One of the best fish and chips I have ever had. Good service and nice inside. Not over priced. Would highly recommend and would visit regularly if lived nearer. Looking forward to going again.

Nothing special and over priced. I had the dirty burger was ok but not worth the price. Stilton chips where not good when they cooled down they went dry sticky gloopy tasteless. The beer was nice but should be when it 's £5 a pint.

Food is amazing let down by service especially as we had a young child not given kids menu didn't realise they had one until table next to us was seated and given them to late we had already fumbled an order together with the waiter. Will try again just for the food.

Went there for a belated birthday lunch. My husband had the surf and turf, I had the scampi and chips and my 4 year old daughter had chicken goujons and chips. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I really enjoyed looking around at all the decoration as there was something new to see each time I looked around. Really enjoyed our visit today and will defiantly be returning.

We went to George's Tradition in Queen Street, Nottingham. We were taken there by my grandaughter as she and her student friends go whenever they can afford it. The restaurant is on two floors with a seaside theme. It is quirky and fun. The staff are keen, friendly and very professional. The fish and chips are the best we've ever had, and we live by the sea!! We hope to go again before our grandaughter graduates.

Absolutely amazing experience. We are six friends who were meeting up to spend a day together. Two from Nottingham..One from Cardiff..one from Newcastle on Tyne . One from Chesterfield and one from Camberley. We all met together at George's for Lunch. Can't praise the staff enough. It was a great atmosphere the food was excellent. Service perfect . A leisurely lunch with nobody rushing us.There will certainly be more visits.

3 of us visited Georges Fish restaurant on 30th June, it was our first visit. It has a great atmosphere and brought back memories of the old fish and chip shops of my youth. We all had the traditional cod and chips with mushy peas. Without some of the best fish and chips I have ever had, and I love F&C! The staff were very friendly and welcomimg. The menu is extensive and not just fish and chips. Give yourself a treat and visit Georges brilliant place!

Called in with my mum a few weeks ago we loved it. She said its the best Fish n chips she's ever had we live in Skegness! I am vegetarian and they even catered for me i was more than happy with my mushroom and Halloumi burger it was fab! The lager was really nice its called A curious brew. Never heard of it but i really liked it. The decor was a feast for the eyes and i thought the menu folded up vintage looking newspaper was a nice touch as well as the condiments being in a tray mounted on the side of the table so they didn't crowd the surface. All in all a great visit. If i had to make one tiny criticism it would only be the price. It was almost £35 for the two of us to eat fish n chips in...

I booked through Georges as we had a double birthday in the family. When I called up I mentioned this too. We arrived and it was busy great atmosphere and decor. I had asked to be sat upstairs and this was accommodated for us, even though they were busy it is a nice feeling to be checked on while you are waiting to be seated.Cannot fault the food, between us we had the traditional fish and chips, swordfish and grilled fish. The food was full of flavour and fresh. Must must recommend the stilton chips! The staff were friendly and attentive (the waitresses mentioned they were new and they provided excellent service). At the end of the meal we were brought a sweet platter as it was a birthday....

"I went there for Christmas dinner with my partner and we had a horrible experience will never go again. My partner had steak which was lovely but the chips, onions, sauce and other accompaniments were cold. I had traditional turkey the only edible thing was the carrots and turkey! The roast potatoes were hard as rock and seemed either overcooked or cooked from frozen. The parsnips I couldn’t cut, cauliflower was hard and the pigs in blanket was so hard it couldn’t be cut. There wasn't even a yorkshire pudding. We complained just about mine and they brought me a new one but that was worse. In the end I only ate a few carrots and some turkey. I complained again when he came to ask how it was again. He said he would ask manager to come over, he took 15/20 mins in meantime my psrtmer had eaten his steak and I was just sat there. The manager offered to let us have our 1 drink each free plus one more round. I was grateful they had offered but it had still spoiled my Christmas and I was emotional as I work every year as a nurse on Christmas Day and cook when I get in (for 40 years) this was the only time I had been out for christmas dinner. It took 50 mins to clear our plates. I just wanted to go home but we had dessert to eat so I had that it was nice but was described as Eton Mess but it was just a big meringue with a dollop of cream on and about 2 strawberries chopped up no sauce at all. The server was nice but we couldn’t get anyone’s attention to get a drink even though we were the last sitting and the kitchen was closed, it wasn’t that busy. I am disappointed and even though they tried to help me it wasn't enough, when we paid £90 each. They warm everything up in the microwave I think apart from meat and fish that’s what it tasted like anyway."
