"The Green Man, Leighton Bromswold, England You can never go back... meaning 'things change '. Memories from the early 80s: the old Brit playing WWII songs on the piano; Sunday roast dinners; Yanks gathering in the back room on Thursday evenings playing popular 60 's and 70 's songs guitars and blind Nick (a Brit from St Neots) blasting on the trumpet; walking 2 miles to the pub in knee-deep snow to eat because of poor planning. I romanced my future wife in this pub. We visit this pub on average every decade. Today, a day away from our 40th wedding anniversary, the Green Man pub is a shadow of its former self. It seemed tired... in need of a clean... in need of energy. Before I arrived I said this pub will always be a 5-star. Nostalgia or echos of the past skewed my expectations. You can never go back. Lovely village. Happy memories. Overall: 3-star"

great Sunday dinner, we and our four dogs were most welcome. really delicious pork with a lot of veg and a gravy boot as well. my wife has a milk allergy and often the reaction is sorbet, but the staff at the green man went the extra mile and offered fresh celestial, meringue and a milk-free sauce brilliant.

Excellent little place. Convenient stop off on the west to east coast to coast drive from Wales to Lowestoft. Quality real Ale well kept and a bacon and brie baguette of generous proportion with a salad with a dressing grown in the pub garden of exquisite character. Friendly folk both in front and behind the bar.

"Just been here for lunch with my friend, who had purchased a Groupon for £39 supposedly representing a 50% discount. This was for '2 course meal with wine for 2 people '. What a joke!! We decided to skip the starter we were offered 2 choices of starter, which on the menu would have cost £4.80 , saying that we would prefer to have main course and a dessert. We were offered 4 choices of main course though the printed menu was extensive and very interesting . This was the Chefs special roast chicken, chicken casserole, hummus and falafel or vegetable curry. On the printed menu this would have cost £8.80. We were given a small glass of wine each. I must say, my vegetable curry was delicious! When we asked what options of dessert we could choose we were told that this was not an option, and that the deal only covered a starter plus a main course this was not stipulated anywhere on the Groupon description nor did the waiter choose to inform us of this when we were ordering, and discussing the idea of main and dessert with him. So for £39 we had eaten £8.80 worth of food each £19.60 plus 2 small glasses of house wine the menu doesn 't show a price for wine by the glass, but I really don 't think that would come to £10 per glass as a whole bottle of house wine is £15.49! We discussed dissatisfaction with both the waiter and the manager, but they were unable to she 'd any light on the matter, except to blame the problem on Groupon!! I REALLY CANNOT RECCOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT WE HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF!!! AVOID!!"
