"This restaurant truly offers amazing food. They take special care to accommodate coeliac needs, with a dedicated gluten-free section in the kitchen and a wide variety of gluten-free options on the menu. They strive to create a safe environment, and we certainly felt secure dining there. It's important to mention that while not all pasta varieties are gluten-free, they are more than willing to make substitutions as needed. The food was excellent, and the lasagna, in particular, was outstanding. The desserts were also delightful, featuring gluten-free cannoli and cake that we sadly didn't have room for. That's definitely something to look forward to for our next visit! This is a dining choice that caters to gluten-free requirements without sacrificing flavor. We will definitely be back!"

Great selection of sweet cakes and pizzas, knowledgeable staff. Perfect for coeliacs but all around great place to go out and my three non coeliacs friends praised their pizzas too.

The restaurant has been rebranded as "La Smorfia," an Italian eatery, since May 2023. They no longer offer breakfast service. For more details, check out page 5 of their new gluten-free menu. View menu

Excellent cafe Italian restaurant with big range of gluten and dairy free options, including cakes, pastries and pizza. Coeliac staff so very knowledgeable and helpful and coeliac safe, even for pizza. Highly recommend

The owner’s daughter is celiac, so she’s made a big effort to provide a huge range of options. I was amazed to see so many GF options of Italian and European pastries! I only tried a chocolate croissant : need to go back for more.

Separate kitchen for gluten free. The lasagna and pizzas are delicious, but my highlight are the gluten free cannolis, which are wrapped with a florentine in place of pastry. My gluten eating partner likes these more than regular cannolis, they are a truly exceptional treat! View menu

Separate preparation food for gluten free meals and lots of options that aren't usually available for coeliacs including Calamari and cannoli. The food itself is really nice and the staff in there are really friendly and happy to answer questions about the measures to avoid cross contamination.

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
