"We had bookings for days at Harts Head. We were supposed to have a meal on the June which would have been our visit. This had to be cancelled by our close friend John Piggin. This came about from us making a...visit to Harts Head for a drink after a meal elsewhere as hart head is local to where we were staying and on previous occasions we enjoyed the hospitality. But during Thursday evening, we had noticed just before shutters internally came down, front door to establishment was shut too. We managed to enter the back door. Once the running management noticed how we entered, aaran was fuming and told staff to shut the back door. When our friend John and my husband went to the bar to order drinks, both could see that they looked displeased. My husband asked are you open, one of the managers behind the bar said, we are closed but you can have a quick drink. From that moment it had escalated as we were uncomfortable and cost of drinks and having to rush our costly drinks was not what we expected after annual visits and previous visits in that week. Aaran had only said the evening we had a meal and stayed abd continued to purchase drinks from the bar area, said i wish more people would come in for a drink. I will say one thing, compliments to the chef!!!! So thus is why we returned thursday evening and spend time drinking in the bar area, helps due to loss of earnings after Covid. How the management did not want us there, aaran spoke quite rudely to our close friend John Piggin and he spoke was really dreadful and you would not expect this behaviour in an establishment as the harts head. We all decided quickly drink up and cancel friday nights meal. We got a booking for friday at the Craven Arms at very short notice. Hospitality at Craven Arms Extremely accommodating the male manager. I cannot refer by name, cannot remember but he was absolutely brilliant and opposite to arran at harts head. Just like to point out there were a few guests in the harts head who heard everything. Felt so sorry for some of the staff working under this management regime( very military like) We drank up quickly, cancelled booking for under name of Mr Piggin and walked out. If harts head look up each year booking under surname Mr Piggin, you'll know what you have lost."

First time visit and meeting friends. Good selection of real ales which was a big plus. Very friendly staff. Good wholesome food menu and the chicken, ham and leek pie was excellent. No room for desert but will go back in the future. Recommend booking...on busy days of the week. Parking a bit of a challenge but nearby street has plenty of space

I went to this restaurant with a friend for a meal and was truly impressed. The decor was beautiful, the atmosphere was great, the portions of food were generous and there was a wide selection of dishes to choose from. I ordered the fish and chips, which was served in a large portion, and it was delicious. The service was a bit slow due to not enough staff, but the wait was worth it as our drinks arrived quickly. The prices were good and I will definitely be returning. Make sure to make a reservation as it is a popular spot.

A large group of us visited this restaurant over the weekend and made a reservation for a table for dinner on Saturday night. The overall experience did not disappoint. The food was delicious, there was a good selection of beer, and the service was very well organized. Since we were a large group, we pre-ordered from the lovely menu. As expected with a big group, there were a few hiccups along the way, but everything was handled with care and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. It was a wonderful evening, and the food was excellent. A big thank you to everyone involved.

We recently moved into the area and decided to try out this local restaurant. We were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and the menu was extensive. We visited on a Sunday for lunch and had a choice of three meats, vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, and all the usual trimmings. The food was delicious, especially the desserts. We will definitely be returning as it is conveniently located for us. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment, as the restaurant was busy but the tables were well-spaced. We had a lovely afternoon thanks to the employees and look forward to our next visit.

Rang to book a table the morning of bank holiday Sunday and managed to get a booking around tea time, both me and my girlfriend were set on a roast but ended up going for the lamb shank which was a very good decision in...the end. The food was great with a decent selection of drinks too. The staff were really friendly and attentive, never leaving us too long without asking if we needed drinks/if everything was ok. The prices were very reasonable and we were in, had two starters and two drinks each as well as our mains all within just over an hour. Would definitely visit again if back in the area, thanks for the great meal!

the work in the reverse breakfast was nice and the key access to the rear staircase was a good idea. we have not returned too late from our high time, but it was good to be able to access from the back of the hotel. the refrigerator in the upper floor was another good property that contained water bottles, milk and orange juice. the shower was bad and had little flow makes it difficult to wash and the whole room needed some upgrade for a facility. it could have been cleaner. the front of the house (handle and departure) could also do with some improvements, but overall the accommodation served our purpose and was not unpleasant, just a few rough edges.

We were a little surprised with the menu as there are quite a few pub basics on offer, and the look of the place suggests something a bit more bistro. First night we had a chicken and ham pie, and fish and chips. The pie...was excellent, the fish also very good but not the biggest offering. We even wondered if the smaller portion had been sent out. The next night we had a great steak with the very opposite issue to the fish) and an average scampi. One came with triple cooked chips, which appeared to be very standard chips fried again, rather than the amazing looking things you see on TV! We also had desserts one night, a cheesecake that was closer to a mousse for me, and a superb sticky toff...
