"This was a lunchtime out with old friends, who had recommended this venue. The staff were helpful and friendly, without being overly intrusive. Our drinks were brought to us and placed on our table with care. Whilst we were chatting, totally unprompted, one of the staff members moved a fan so that it was pointing in our direction. They clearly had recognised that we were feeling the heat, and the cool breeze certainly helped. This was a very nice touch, which we all greatly appreciated. There was an excellent choice of starters, mains, and puddings on the menu. We all decided to have main meals and puddings. These were served in good time, and we were all impressed with the presentation and quality of the food. All in all, it was a very good experience. Hadn't been there before, but we will certainly go again."

An excellent restaurant. Had a very good lunch and can recommend it. No particular downside. Prices were similar to other pubs and would recommend it. Will i return? Yes!

Brilliant evening on 22 June. Love the new additions to the menu too in particular the Padron peppers and the watermelon salad. Food was delicious (as always) both in taste and look, but have to say our evening was really made so lovely by the young man (Joe I believe) who was an absolute pleasure to be looked after by. Thank you for a lovely evening guys! View menu

The young lady who served us was brilliant, very attentive to our requests and got the order perfect. The food was delicious, especially the chocolate and cherry tart! Good options for our 3 vegetarians too. Just one small piece of feedback on the veggie curry which could do with a bit more sauce to rice ratio. Very dog friendly too with a water bowl already placed at our table ahead of arrival. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Wonderful looking pub and great decor. We were served by a delightful waitress with a gorgeous smile, food was excellent...and not your normal pub grub, and although I never usually indulge in pudding, i simply couldn't resist the delicious selection on offer. A great cheese selection was sadly just too much for me...this time! I have no hesitation in recommending this little diamond, and hope to be back very soon. Thank you all for a fantastic lunch.

We had a fantastic time at the Horse and Groom. They were really accommodating of my friend and I and our two little babies. The food was delicious. I had a chicken burger and it’s the best I’ve had in a long time from a pub. They have a great selection of puddings and do this brilliant option of a half dessert with a hot drink perfect if you fancy something sweet but are pretty full up! The service was attentive, friendly and welcoming. We just generally had a lovely time. Will be back for sure! View menu

This charming country pub offers a wonderfully diverse menu with a cozy atmosphere, featuring wood paneling and sturdy tables. A welcoming fire greets patrons, along with friendly service. The Sweet potato coconut soup and Char Sui pork noodle soup were delicious starters, followed by a crispy beef salad and pork belly dish complete with watermelon, pak choy, snap pea salad, and crunchy pork skin garnish. The salad had a generous amount of beef, and the chocolate posset with pistachio ice cream was a delightful dessert. The staff was friendly, and the pub has a rear terrace and front garden tables. They offer a good selection of cask ales at fair prices, making it a reliable choice for a sat...

we stumbled today about this place after we lost and decided that since the parking was full and it looked nice on the outside we thought it was worth a shot. we were not disappointed. the pub is large enough to be able to walk in and have a sunday roast without booking. the personal was fab and fast with the foods and drinks. a beautiful family atmosphere so that when my 4 yr old decided to throw a mini-tromun, I did not get dazzled, I have a feeling of empathy. eating was hot and fresh and my little man ate every last piece. to finish a little gravitation for him was also no problem. so pleased we found this pub as it is now a fave place of me to go and plan to visit again very soon. thank...

"After many years, on recommendation of others, went to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Whilst the food was excellent, the service was atrocious and totally ruined what should have a lovely night out on a very special occasion. Booked for and seated...promptly. Orders for aperitifs taken and drinks brought promptly. Order for wine taken, bottle brought and opened. Then it all went downhill. Waited for over minutes for our meal order to be taken and that only happened because I signalled to the girl behind the bar that I was getting unhappy. First course then took about minutes to arrive. However our main course took until to arrive. I have never ever waited minutes for a main course to arrive. It would not have been so bad if the staff had shown any interest or we had been able to grab hold of one to ask what was going on, they just seemed to totally ignore us! As mentioned earlier, the food, when it did arrive, was very good, it would have been even better if the side order of vegetables my wife had ordered had also arrived. We did ask what had happened to them but when we were told they had been overlooked, decided to just make do and share mine. To add insult to injury, while we were waiting we noticed that other couples were eating dishes that were not on the menu we had been given. I later found out that we were supposed to have been given a specials menu but this had also been overlooked. At the end, the manager was very apologetic and gave a cursory discount however this was not the point. It was a special occasion at a not inexpensive restaurant I would have preferred to pay the full price and not had a ruined evening. Needless to say, we will not be returning."

"After reviewing the menu, we decided to go for a 'running buffet' and shared a variety of dishes, reordering every ten minutes or so. I asked everyone to rate each dish on a scale of 1 to 5, and every main dish received a perfect score of 5, except for the Szechuan Prawns, which got a 5.5, and the sizzling spicy chicken, which scored a 6! The rice and noodles were all delicious—fluffy, tasty, and well-seasoned—but we gave them all a rating of 4 simply because the mains were exceptional. The standout dishes were the Char Siew (honey pork), which we ended up ordering three times, and the sizzling hot spicy chicken, which we ordered twice. It had a delightful kick of heat, was tender and moist, and had a wonderful sauce—even though I tried to manage the scores, they rated it a 6! The Szechuan prawns were plump, firm, and cooked to perfection, and they scored a very hard-fought 5.5, with just the right amount of heat. One of the boys was a bit picky, but we requested a serving of Singaporean noodles without vegetables for him without any hassle. This isn’t just average food; it’s really good, and it comes out quickly, looks appealing, and tastes fantastic—reflecting its price. We also tried the 'wine by the glass' options. The white Chilean Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the food, while I enjoyed an Australian Shiraz that complemented the beef, pork, and spicy dishes nicely. The Italian 'Blush' rosé was also a hit. We're already planning to return on Monday with another group of six to explore more of the menu, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it. If you truly appreciate good food, I highly recommend trying Chef Peking!"
