"experience to be repeated, I found after years the real homemade cuisine, made of love, quality and quantity. Under the advice of my friend Calcatese doc I ate in this trattoria run by a cauldcadese doc, kind and sketchy as the wine you need. Do not expect touches from chefs or nouvelle cousine, this is a trattoria and not a renowned and starred restaurant, not even one of those places from frikkettoni and radical chic that infest calcata, it is all done with extreme simplicity and you will not regret it. Starting from the mixed appetizer, passing from the fettuccine to the porcini mushrooms and finishing to the mixed roast, it was a triumph of the homemade cuisine, those flavors of house you felt when cooking the grandmother or aunt... and the coffee, if you want, go to the bar, they don't do it... and do well, how many times have we drunk shaqquabudella at the end of the meal? And on the account nothing to say, you just want to pat on the shoulder of the owner and tell him thanks to exist ..applause. ..sipario.. ."

For an local rural restaurant, it was average. The ravioli did not taste fresh (the pasta was chewy), the diavolo was just a heap of dry peperoncino thrown on the food. you can find better....

The strozze prete cacio pepe was to die for, a simple dish but I know we’ll be trying to imitate it for a long time. Welcoming and friendly. Service a bit slow because of the association eating but if we had ate more it could have been an uncomfortable night. Recommended. View menu

It was already 14.20, so we stopped here for lunch before entering into the truly medieval Calcata. The people inside seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists. Almost as quickly as we ordered our food, the plates were being delivered to us. I had the fettucine with ragu, and my boyfriend had the pasta with mushrooms and sausage. Both plates were great, as was the house wine and table bread. I will say, however, I did ask for no cheese , and mine came out with parmesan on it. For a second, we also shared a pork shop that was very juicy and flavorful. In the end, the bill was reasonable 35 Euro for all everything. It was warm inside and were able to get right on our way after!

On our first visit to this unique medieval borgo, we stopped at the first open restaurant that we found. We sat outside and were very happy to find value priced dishes on the menu. We ordered the appetizer tray and Cacio E Pepe pasta. The outdoor area was filled with a large group of 12 who ordered everything from wine to appetizers, primi piatti and secondo! The food just kept coming and everyone was loudly enjoying themselves! Our dishes were more than filling and very good! My pasta dish was served hot in the frying pan! A nice touch! As we were outside, a cigarette or two appeared at other tables but the breeze was with us. One issue, however, is the number of cats begging at the tables....
