"You can only imagine how happy I was, as an Italian, to find out a real pizzeria was opening in my neighborhood :DThe first time I was there it was their third day since the opening and everything was disorganized and chaotic. We had to wait almost one hour to get our two take away pizzas, but it was definitely worth it...cause it really tastes like a neapolitan pizza. The last time I was there it was a few days ago, with my parents and they enjoyed it.I've seen this business growing, the improvement in the service, which is now very quick, the friendliness of the easygoing Italian and German staff...the only thing that has't changed since the beginning is the delicious taste of their pizza, made by Italian pizzaioli. It's definitely my favourite pizza in town and I highly recommend it, but if you don't live close to it like me I suggest you book a table or be there long before, cause the place is really small, particularly in Winter (cause they don't have the tables outside) and it has lots of customers and fans :)"

a small but fine pizzeria - pizza is baked in a wood stove - so a pizza is otherwise only available in Italy! The ingredients are imported partly directly from italy (Mehl/Tomaten and mozzarella come directly from the region um neapel) - the pizza (and also the antipasti cellar) were simply top!Leider we do not live in hamburg (about 300 km away) - otherwise we would often come by!

to enjoy the good pizza properly, it is unfortunately lacking ambiente and organization. the space is filled with tables and chairs, so that even the entrance door is hardly open. accordingly loud and sturdy it is there. It was also a pity that I got served a only lukewarm pizza, as this was spent some time on the stage. but it was offered to me to get a new pizza if I want to wait for it. my recommendation: take pizza or let it deliver.

chaotic and the personal hopelessly overwhelmed. when you sit outside, you are more ignored, on the tables next door, old one is piled. "This was my favorite Italian, but now no longer. the whole staff is new today". the two next to us have been waiting patiently for their pizza to take along and ask expectantly a few times. I picked up our drinks at the counter. I deny the question whether the pizza is to take. our pizza will bring an endured waiter to take along in pizza boxes. my pizza is compensated, because it is really delicious that my friend unfortunately burned something. all but not worth the long waiting time. We were looking for an Italian place to have dinner in Hamburg, and came across Il Forno. We turned up around 7 o'clock on a Tuesday night, and the place was bustling with people, who were obviously having a very good time. We managed to get a table, and ordered pizzas. The pizzas arrived rather quickly, and they were very very good, and truly Italian style. We visit Hamburg about once a year, and have a short list of favourite places. Il Forno is now definitely on our list, we look forward to come back again, and we recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates genuine Italian pizza and a nice and lively atmosphere.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
