"I went some months ago to this small imbiss in Stuttgart because I was craving some food from my country of Lebanon. I invited some friends with me to introduce them to what shawarma is all about and why I consider it a step up...from the regular Döner, which dominates the street food genre in Germany. The team is a lovely lebanese family, who are friendly and warm. They were welcoming and hospitable as you would expect from any lebanese run business. My order was simple: Tabouli and a beef shawarma sandwich. The verdict: The Tabbouli was spot on, almost exactly like the one my mom prepares. The shawarma was also good but was not really the shawarma I was expecting. The beef shawarma sandwich's anatomy is quite simple: Shawarma beef which is fatty and marinated with spices, roasted tomatos, parsley onion and sumak salad and sesame tahini lemon sauce. Their version had a dry beef which is cooked in the oven, lettuce, some kind of weird sauce and potatoes. It was good but any lebanese will tell you this is not what you would expect from a beef shawarma. It was a bit disappointing and that's why I haven't visited the place in a long time. However, I have heard they changed some things there and am planning on giving the place another try. Conclusion: I found the overall experience was positive, just because I am biased I felt a bit disappointed. The sandwich I had still retained more flavor than any Döner I've had, that is why I do recommend trying the place but keep your expectations (if you are lebanese) to a modest level."
