Kartoffelhaus - Menu

This restaurant had every way to cook potatoes known to man. Before I went there I thought "Just potatoes, kind of boring". But it was exactly the opposite. We ate here twice because it was that good.

We went there with a kid, a true potato lover and we all really enjoyed it. The casserole were delicious and they are very well prepared for the kids (menu, crayons..). Good choice for a place to eat in Freiberg!

I must state that I didn't choose this restaurant and ate there as part of a group with a set menu.Given the lack of choice of restaurants in Freiberg it was probably no worse than the average but the town is not a gastronomic destination. We ate here with a group. Food was good and unusual sort of like pub food. The menu is big for potato theme food. My dish was good and surprisingly light. Service was a little slow but the staff was friendly. The atmosphere is cozy with interesting farming decoration. No outdoor sitting though and kind of dark inside.

The Kartoffelhaus (Potato House) is a classic German restaurant situated in the heart of Freiberg, Saxonia. Potatoes in all varieties are on offer ranging from Kartoffelsalat (potato salad) to baked potatoes and soups. I liked the restaurant because it has a nice ambiente and friendly personnel.Parking space is limited. Best walk from town centre.

In the winter, Freiberg gets very cold. There is a saying there that in Freiberg, there are two seasons: Winter and Strong Winter!"Nothing is better than when the it is "Strong Winter" to go to Kartoffelhaus and have a wonderfully warm potato dish. And they have all kinds. The fresh potato chips are the best.I have many fond memories of going there to eat. We miss it. (I was actually there in 2011, but that option isn't available)
