"We popped in here on a damp day when we just wanted a cuppa. We went through the tea room door and looked for a table large enough for 5. As there were already a number of people we found ourselves in the restaurant at the back (which opened off the tea room). The waitress was laying tables for the evening, but willingly left one for us to use. We ordered our drinks at the counter, and they were brought to us along with a large, complementary biscuit each. They looked home made and were tasty. Thank you."

We called for a cup of tea during a walk. Good value and good friendly service with pleasant seating both inside and outside.

We stopped here for coffee on our way to Hawes. Lovely little place with great coffee and it had bits and pieces for sale too.

Called in for a cream tea. Lovely location but very disappointing scones. For some reason the owners feel the need to sugar them. That's not scones as we know it. Too sweet. What happened to a traditional scone?

We stopped here for coffee on our way to Keld. A lovely little tea room, we had crumpets with jam which were great, and the waitress checked if they were vegan for us before we ordered anything. She was very helpful. View menu

We held our wedding reception here in 1993! We have visited for various meals several times since, the welcome has always been warm and the food has always been excellent. I can't comment on the accommodation as we have never stayed.

Visited the tea rooms whilst in Thwaite for a trip down memory lane (friend used to stay in house two doors down as a child and spent hours with her sister playing in the river). The staff were super friendly, the menu was extensive (difficult to choose) and I experienced my first traditional Americano coffee. Didn't want to leave and would highly recommend.

walked into a friendly welcome, very clean inside and out, just had coffees and scones, wife had cake, both very delicious and coffee good, (I'm not a coffee drinker usually). i noticed as customers left if there were crumbs etc, (not unusual with home baked cakes etc) the staff immediately cleaned up, fallen leaves outside treated the same, also a good parking area at rear, View menu

We have just returned from yet another visit to this wonderful family run country hotel in the heart of the Yorksshire Dales. It is set in a small hamlet and the hotel is the heart of the community. Small shop 3 miles away. The hotel only has 12 rooms, so very cosy and extremely friendly. The rooms themselves are very clean and comfortable. If you want a few restful days, in wonderful scenery this is the place to be and is a walkers paradise.

Booked in one evening for a meal. The food was very mediocre at best, 70's throw back, very surprised considering I saw the chef and he was in his 30's. Veg was what I'd expect to be served in a hospital or retirement home unfortunately. The food service is also very bizarre and something that you'd expect to see in Faulty Towers. The man who was clearly the owner was a very rude person indeed. Everything was too much trouble apparently! We would never go back.

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items. The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."
