"I raved about this place in my last review but since then it appears to have changed. Firstly, I cant remember the chairs being so uncomfortable that they had 'scatter ' cushions for you to use if you needed to. Having had back surgery, they made it even worse for me, so did without them in the most uncomfortable chair ever. Now, to the main part of the review. The lovely cakes that I had raved about had disappeared to be replaced by a sorry looking load of bog standard cake. The poor girl who served us was nervous as it was her first day, we ordered pecan pie which came with cream, we asked if its pouring or thick, she had to ask, it was pouring so we asked if we could have ice cream instead, she had to ask. Anyway, we finally ordered our cake and coffee. When she brought the coffee, she spilled half of mine in the saucer and then asked if I wanted a different saucer....duh! she took the offending saucer and the spoon brought a saucer back, no extra serviette to wipe the bottom of the cup and NO SPOON! We were then served the cake and ice cream, which to be fair, was nice, until, halfway through I saw a hair on my friends plate, (she was not wearing her glasses). We knew instantly that it was not either of ours, I have shoulder length hair and her hair was in a bun! We called the poor young lady over and pointed it out, she asked if my friend wanted to change it...duh! Of course she did, she brought another and thankfully my friend shared it with me! The coffee was (flat white) was nice but after that catalogue of events I wont be going back. They do offer a range of snacks/lunches and people did seem to be enjoying them."

Popped in during work. Had a filling bowl of beautiful home made carrot and coriander with lovely soft bread. Would recommend.

Visited today for quick lunch. I had some delicious homemade mackerel pate and Mum enjoyed the fish cakes and crispy potato wedges. Both were beautifully presented, with a lovely side salad and dressing. There were a large number of tempting cakes which we will have to go back and try. This lovely cafe deserves every success.

Called into La Nouba on a busy Thursday lunchtime. We ordered the homemade tomato soup, a bacon and Brie panini and a pot of tea and Americano coffee. The food was freshly prepared and tasty I struggled to finish the panini as it was so amply packed with back bacon rashers and a lot of cheese! The coffee was so good that I ordered a second! Great value! View menu

We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident after taking a wrong turn, but we are so glad we did. We had breakfast here, ordering one big breakfast and one veggie breakfast. The portions were huge and the food was incredibly delicious. The veggie sausages were especially outstanding, the best I have ever tasted. We will definitely be coming back to dine here again. Thank you.

Today had an excellent Bacon/sweetcorn/potato chowder which was absloutely delicious. At £3.70 for a 200ml (small portion) takeaway it was also excellent value. Its good to discover local places like this which are continuing to offer service during the Firebreak lockdown and must be finding it difficult to survive. Please support this type of business when normal life resumes.

Visited today decided to try this place because they had a patio garden which was a lovely sun trap. Ordered 2 baguettes and wedges with tea not quite 5 star but nice. The side salad was lovely. The two ladies working were happy and very helpful with my order. They ensured that we were comfortable and that we were happy. Nothing was too much trouble. Will defiantly visit again and try the home made chilli but maybe in a cooler day! View menu

We recently dined at Marco Pierre White's for lunch and were extremely disappointed. The steak was undercooked and had a tough texture, and the fishcake was lacking in flavor. The next day, I visited La Nouba with a friend and had a fantastic experience. The open sandwich featuring tuna, smoked salmon, prawns, and anchovies was exceptional. The quality of food at La Nouba is top-notch and reasonably priced. Unlike Marco's, the owner Anna is very friendly and welcoming, and the chef serves delicious home-cooked meals. I have been to La Nouba multiple times and have always enjoyed the food and overall dining experience. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Im lucky enough to live close by to this lovely little cafe, ive been tens of times now and can never believe the quality of the food on offer (plus the sizable portions! at such excellent price. Dont miss out on the food this place offers, its a hidden secret! The decor is definately lacking if you compare it to some other coffee shops, however this doesnt bother me in the slightest, the lady is running a small business and its evident that she puts her all into providing excellent homemade cooking and baking to her customers on a daily basis. Its never quiet in there from my experience and the atmosphere is what you make of it with the company youre with.

"It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse! . We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend."
