as a local I can tell you that this one is definitely among the best places if not the first In town., the menu is rich of delicious food among others the Caramelle Ripiene, Torta al Testo, Mousse al Bacio are between my ever favourites if you are coeliac gluten intolerance they have a good number of options available so that's a plus! With all the reviews we expected to love this restaurant. The food was just okay and the service was subpar. It very much has an assembly line feel. All the tables in the section are all ordering, eating, ordering dessert, and receiving the bill at the same time. We had to ask for the bill 3 times and the waiter still wheeled the dessert cart through our section taking orders prior to finally bringing us our bill.

Un pranzo speciale, in un giorno speciale (il mio compleanno), non poteva avere cornice migliore. Quando cucinare smette di essere un lavoro e diventa un piacere vuol dire che stai mangiando a “La Taverna”, da Claudio, un ristorante dove anche le cose semplici hanno un sapore speciale. Dalle Caramelle Rosse, un must, alle carni o al pesce. E se non mi credete non vi resta che provare. Ma attenti, perché è un’esperienza che può creare dipendenza.

this is the best dinner we ever had in perugia. if they ever come to visit this city, they have to go there to try their food. when we sit, they serve us champagne and bread. immediately after that they serve us cold suppee. that's before we even ordered our dinner. our dinners were perfect! we didn't want to have a heavy meal, and we like to share our dishes. they separate each one in two. see photo) so my friend and I did not have to separate it myself. at the end the chef, the owner, drove us back to the hotel. we have so wonderful experience at this place that we come back to italia to eat here!
