"We should never have even thought about this place - there are so many others well recommended on TA. We were tired and hungry - they had tables - this is France etc. Anyway, to the chase: First table was next to a smelly, possibly health hazard drain pipe. We moved, mush to the staff surprise. Menu looked good so we went for crevettes, starters - disaster - not fresh, warm, mushy - difficult to make them more unappealing. Mains - half lobster - grossly overcooked, very little meat and what there was was tough AND accompanied by a dollop of COLD spaghetti, lifeless salad and some sort of sauce (?). We complained - overcooked, greasy chips arrived as a side plate the rest of the abomination remained. This was foul - are there any food inspectors in Sete? What do the hoteliers, council and other restaurateurs think? The dessert of creme caramel was OK.Staff appeared surprised that we were upset - are they deaf and blind? We related all of this report to them which elicited a rather loud arrogant comment from the maitre to the effect of " these English - ha!" Our French is perfect. We have been visiting and working in France continuously over the last 55 years and never experienced such downright insulting behaviour from beginning to end. Was it real? Was it a contrived TV show? - it certainly beggared belief .We will return to Sete and pray that this place will have been expelled!"

Food, ambience all terrible. Don't eat here! a total rip-off in every way! This is nothing but a tourist-driven place where they persuade you in then ignore you. Dreadful food and service, overpriced and total disinterest in complaint or criticism. ,

This was the busiest restaurant on the port at the time of our visit. It offers a 15.99€ menu, which is has a reasonable choice and is of an acceptable quality. If you want a memorable meal, go elsewhere, but if you just want a fairly cheap meal then this is your place!! The service was fine and the wine ok too. View menu

Visited during our stay in Sete as a part of our daily restaurant tour.Nothing too special however it got really busy. Staff very friendly and helpful to adjust the menu if needed. We both had set meal-3 course for €15.95-I had a salad, nice steak in blue cheese sos and fruit salad.Service quick and food very nice and tasty!Alcohol free cocktails bit too pricey-€7!Main downside was toilet located next to the kitchen! There could be another door separating the area. There was also a cockroach in the toilet :( Good I went there after having my food!Still quite good mark for nice service and tasty food.

Long wanted to visit this Med. coast town and sample the seafood for which it is lauded. Clearly chose the wrong restaurant. Despite other reviews we were very dissapointed. We both ordered Les Moules but cooked differently. They arrived at the table within about 3 minutes. The mussels had all been pre cooked and the relevant sauce had been added. Maraniere for me and A la creme for the boss. The mussels were luke warm purely from the sauce. Really upset with our choice of restaurant despite researching it on here! If you are a foodie and enjoy your seafood eat elsewhere. There are plenty of other restaurants. Bon chance.

We stumbled into this quai side restaurant, because at 14:50h in Saturday in August it would still serve customers and it looked like a welcome escape from the August heat. All other restaurants were closing at 15:00. We ordered 2 x 12 oysters and a plate of chicken nuggets and chips for our daughter, both of which were decent, tasty and fairly priced. Service was quick and the staff was also friendly. The menu is seafood heavy, with oysters, moules frites in all different versions and large seafood platters all fairly priced. Shame that it is located right next to the big fishing boats, so that was our view for lunch ... Parking is a bit of a challenge around the quai. View menu

With the Covid 19 curfew in place lunch venues were packed over this half term holiday. We grabbed a free table outside and ordered the cheapest fixed price menu. The food was good not special but tasty. The service was a little slow at first : they didn't bring a menu until we reminded them but the food arrived swiftly once we had ordered. The problem came when we got the bill. They had charged us for two bottles of wine €17 x 2. I'd like to think it was a genuine mistake but perhaps because we were English they thought we wouldn't notice or know how to complain. We both speak good French and so the mistake was rectified. No real apology however. It leaves a bad impression. I certainly woul...

After a bit of a wander up and down the main tourist restaurant strip, we settled on 'Le grand Bleu' - it looked busy and the food ok. It was a fairly standard menu for most of the restaurants that surrounded it. A starter of the local speciality, squid pie, was a part of a set menu and was perfectly acceptable. Four our mains we had the sea bream, seabass and steak and chips (with black pepper sauce). The sea bream was fine, the seabass was accompanied by a rather pale and flavourless pasta ribbons which made the plate somewhat colourless. The steak was a bit fatty but sauce and chips were nice. Service was pretty quick, which lead us to believe the food was reheated (the sea bream especial...

"La Marine Restaurant exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. We had come to Sète earlier than our reservation time thinking we would walk around the town, but we stopped by the restaurant to see where it was located, saw our name on our table (outside, our dog was with us . We identified ourselves to the staff and they immediately asked if we preferred to sit then or wait. We sat down for an amazing meal. For an amuse-bouche, there was a fresh and delicious tapenade served in shot glasses with toasted baguette slices. The staff promptly brought water for our dog. We then enjoyed Bouzigues oysters (a fresh batch which we saw the chef/part owner Magali cart into the restaurant straight from the Halles location! and Couteaux or razor clams in garlic, olive oil and parsley. Both were a revelation. I had a delicious rosé Nino, served by pouring it via a funnel into the bottle corresponding to the volume I ordered and put on ice. My wife enjoyed the Dos de cabillaud (cod and I loved my loup de mer entier. Both served with delicious vegetables and potatoes. We didn’t have dessert but we’re offered a shot of a sweet Muscat wine and little chocolate lava cakes as a sweet send off. All for $95 US. We can’t wait to return. All the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and cared for. Don’t miss this wonderful restaurant! They also give cooking classes at their sister restaurant Halles et Manger in Sète Halles."
