"We were in Albi for one evening in mid-October. The city was uncrowded. We wandered down to this restaurant after reading some reviews. It was a Saturday night, about 8 P.M. There were a few empty tables. We were greeted and directed to a table in the back. There was an elaborate price fixed menu. But we were not that hungry. We sat for a good 10-15 minutes before someone came to speak with us. I speak decent French, and asked the hostess, who I believe is one of the owners, about a smaller price fixed meal that was detailed on the menu and listed as available on Saturday's. She told me it was not available. I asked about ordering a la carte. She told me it was possible, but clearly was not enthusiastic about it. We sat for another 15 minutes and no one ever came back to take an order. For the first time in my life, I walked out of a restaurant. This restaurant has pretensions to be first class. But they have a long way. I would not recommend anyone get near this place. There are many alternatives in the city."

Well, the title says it all really. In addition, probably just as well to book as they do not have many tables and are deservedly popular.

Lovely setting in an 'outdoor room' covered by wisteria so no diesel fumes! A well prepared menu with a difference to other tourist restaurants. Efficient service and reasonable price. Limited opening this time of year.

Cosy restaurant with friendly ambiance. Quality ingredients and reasonably priced excellent quality local wine. Disliked 6 large fish bones in fillet of cod and attitude of young waitress, whose comment 'all fish have bones' was unfitting for a restaurant of this quality.

On a sunday afternoon welcomed hospitable in this restaurant, somewhat remote from the city centre and the cathedral. We had a tree course french menu and a very good wine with it (also french ofcourse). Everything was delicious and the service was also very good. It was very pleasant inside.

Recommended by our hotel receptionist in Albi the food was superb and the service and ambience first class. The food is local, classiC fare but with a modern, light twist with the accent on fresh, local produce. Even the farmer who provided the beans for the cassoulet gets a mention. A series of menus are offers in the evening from the low 20 euros to the mid 30 euros. There is also a lunchtime set menu. We we undecided whether we could manage a dessert, but very glad we did, they were excellent. The wine list is comprehensive with the focus on local wines.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the gite where we were staying as being one of her favourite restaurants in Albi and we were not disappointed. We had not made a reservation when we went there for lunch but the staff made us very welcome. It was a hot day and walking to the restaurant we had passed a number of pavement-side restaurants where people having lunch looked rather hot and uncomfortable, so it was a real pleasure to arrive at Le Lautrec and to be offered a table in its very attractive, shady courtyard. The food was good and the service attentive. We highly recommend their dessert Cafe Gourmand which includes three small desserts and a cup of coffee. English is sp...

The cheaper lunch menus are not available on Sundays, unfortunately. We decided to have just a main course each. The slow-cooked veal with apple-flavoured gravy and mushrooms was stunning. The fishy version of cassoulet was good winter comfort food, and not as fatty as the usual cassoulet. And we were also offered not only a very tasty amuse-bouche to begin with, of a shot glass of beetroot deliciousness with a mini spring roll of something seafoodish, but also a lovely nutty bit of chocolate with our coffee - so it felt like a three course meal, though one that did not weigh us down too heavily for the afternoon which was due to be spent at the Toulouse-Lautrec museum. Staff were very frien...

We visited this restaurant due to its nice ambiance and a recommendation. We were nicely welcome and looked forward to a great meal. I had a starter with a mix of seafood on a bed, which looked like half a muffin with a strange taste. The seafood was embedded in a creamy sauce. Already, when eating, I had concerns due to the unidentifiable taste. The main course was with lamb, which again had a hard to identify minced meat, half warm, half cooked in a shell of more or less raw green pepper. I left half of it as I was mistrusting the taste.Since our visit, I now suffer for five days due to colon problems clearly related to my meal at this place, which also got confirmed by a physician, I cons...

"Our second night in Albi and two restaurants we wanted to visit in the evening were closed. We decided to venture to a small local Vietnamese restaurant that received only 11 reviews but all very good and from French visitors. We arrived early and we're the only customers but received a friendly greeting in French with little English but a willingness to work with our very limited language skill. We decided on the fixed price menu at 17Euros a person. My husband had the shrimp salad, the beef with onions and peppers with rice all very fresh tasting and the salad had wonderful and crunchy ingredients in a lightly creamed dressing. I chose the beef and nem...a lovely dish with ginger spiced noodle, small slices of perfectly tender beef and two small fried rolls stuffed with finely shredded veggies and meat. My main dish was the shrimp (crevettes) Thailandaise a most delicious combination of crisp onion, cabbage, and a fantastic spiced cream sauce. I was told it was spicy but without the final dash of hot sauce it had just the right amount of zip. Both of us had the banana flambé to finish. This was just the right amount of food...not so much food that it could be shared. The cost including a lovely bottle of Gaillac Rouge was about 47 Euros. We feel this was a wonderful and very pleasant dinner and well worth the price. Thanks again to Evean our waitress and her parents the chefs!"
