"This restaurant is a revelation with excellent food and service with the only downside was that it took us so long to get around to trying it. I would recommend - and have - this restaurant to anyone visiting Beaulieu both in the form of a viable destination for dinner and also as an alternative to the glut of bistros present nearby. The food is excellent, genuine Moroccan and does go a little beyond the neutered fare one might expect, often bringing a number of flavours and textures to the table in one dish. Equally, the wine is superb value and also surprisingly good quality given that it too is Moroccan in origin - having not tried wine from the Maghreb before I was a little unsure of what to expect, however what was brought to the table instantly allayed any fears that were present with its rich fruitiness and depth of flavour. The only note of caution I would sound is that service might be a little slower than desired as and when it gets busy (and it will, especially at weekends). This is because it is entirely family-run with patron performing the role of waiter while the restaurant itself sits on the cusp of too-big-for-one-man and too-small-for-several. That's not to say that you will be forgotten or have to wait for hours but you will likely notice that it takes a touch longer than desired to be attended to.If you manage to spend more than £30 a head including drinks you are doing well such is the excellent value on offer at this establishment."

Le Petit Darkoum offers excellent Moroccan food and is the place to come to if you're looking for a taste out of the ordinary. Having visited the restaurant three times we've never been disappointed and will most certainly return again.

The reviews were good so we decided to try Le Petit Darkoum but apart from the warm hospitality I'm afraid I have tasted better Moroccan dishes. The lamb tagines were piping hot but lacked flavour and spices, the speciality bread was very yeasty. View menu

I have known this place for years. Every time we find ourselves in beauleau we call in. The food seams to get better, like a good wine i am sure it improves with age. All else stays the same at this restaurant as the menu and decor is a constant, but hey why change what works, and it does work very well.

It's a small restaurant located in front of the Town Hall. Were it not for the sticky floors, it would have been charming. The outdoors tables are too noisy being directly on the main road to the town. The food is tasty. We tried the four-course meal and there was an incredible lot of good food that we could not finish, even though we were really hungry. Acceptable prices.

This is not a place with a sea view, but it has to serve some of the best quality Moroccan style food I have ever tried. The dinning room has a nice Moroccan feel to it, the prices are very reasonable. They are happy to accomodate any special requests (one of our party doesn't like onions and the request for these to be left out of a dish was cheerfully complied with). Give it a try, Excellent. We started with the tabbouleh which was just okay, really tasteless. I then had the cous cous with chicken, which, again, was lacking in flavor. My boyfriend had a tagine, which also needed to be spiced up so he asked for some harissa, which unfortunately didn’t add much to the dish. The atmosphere is very beautiful & the service is attentive. I just wish the dishes had more flavor, quite bland to what we are accustomed to in other Moroccan restaurants.

I wanted to go to this restaurant for several reasons, not least because I had passed it so many times and it looked like one of those quaint small finds that serves authentic and well priced ethnic foods. I am sure it does. However, I will now never know as I have made a policy not to return. Why is that? Because I called in twice without a reservation and found the reception on both occasions to be luke warm and very unaccommodating. The first time I felt they were overburdened and could see that the small number of tables were booked. The second time they had tables and had obviously kept two for regulars. I turned up with a friend and was told that they were booked. Later that evening I...
