"We hadn't planned to visit Angoulême but finding ourselves here at lunchtime we called into Le Pistou. It's several years since we last ate here (it was good then) and we had a great lunch today in the sunshine. Excellent, friendly service and quality food for a good price. We selected from the menu du jour and our entrees were delicious and beautifully presented (tomato and mozzarella salad; melon, jambon cru, gaspacho) followed by our mains (a fish and Saint jaques cocotte with rice; chicken breast with sauté potatoes). I'm sure the pizzas and pasta dishes that other diners were eating were fine too. Good wine and meal finished off with coffee as we were too full for desert. Le Pistou is conveniently located by the market square and is almost the first restaurant you come across on leaving the underground car park."

Despite the mixed comments, we tested this restaurant at two o'clock on Sunday and were not disappointed! the service is top, the dishes are good, eating well we go at low price, honestly I recommend!

We took one Mixed, one Texmex and à Calzone, with a large bottle of sparkling water the pizzas were good and the service efficient. What else ? Oh yes, the price : 38,5€ quite decent for the quality and quantity of the food in your plate

Angoumême has a lot of choice when it comes to eating. We chose Le Pistou as food looked good as we wandered past. We went for the fixed price menu 2 dishes for €13 and no one was disappointed. Wine a bit pricey at €18/half ltr, but it was good.

That's good, good report. The dishes are copied. Nice waiter. only flat, the place lacks pep’s. the frame itself is not very welcoming. the entrance is a little whipped and unmaintained, idem when you take the stairs to climb into the room upstairs. lack of modernity.

Waitress had a serious attitude problem, we tried to order pizza and salad to share, but this wasn't possible. So instead of telling us it wasn't possible, she just walked off. 10 minutes later we're still sitting there wondering why we haven't even had drinks, so we go in and speak to the owner, who said that we hadn't placed an order because we didn't understand. But instead of telling us, they left us sitting at a table with no idea there was a problem. Not very tourist friendly...

I'm gonna be honest. this little restaurant, not bad, by the way, a little expensive, but no more. wc without light, without wifi. the building does not pay for a mine, the servers are...gentils, but not adorable, passive reception, the server outfits are not top for a restaurant. a positive point, which is worth a star, is their shotamisu (see photo) not huge, a little expensive, but rather good, unlike some restaurants that make them plastic boxes, like yogurts. I liked it, but I don't recommend it, knowing that a much more cabbage restaurant was the next, with a guitarist who really sang. I'd rather go to the other.

I can not comment on the food as we left before having chance to order due to the outrageous attitude of the waitress. When arriving my partner and I sat at a 4 seat table well away from others in a quiet area with plenty of available tables with our 10 month old daughter. We were immediately told to move to a small 2 seat table next to a couple smoking heavily!! When we asked if we could stay where we were because of the smoke and a baby we were rather aggressively told no.......! Maybe it's because we were talking English, but I have never experienced anything like that anywhere else in the world. Sadly we left the town, following a lovely weekend, with a very bitter taste in our mouths.

"Saturday evening 10/28, dinner at the gourmet restaurant Les Sources de Fontbelle for the 2nd time (5 guests). The first time we were really enchanted by the setting, the service, the aperitif on the terrace and the chef 's proposal. On the other hand, this 2nd experience is very far from what I hoped to be able to experience again. Already from the aperitif we started on a bad basis with a little discriminatory side. This is the only restaurant that punishes you for appetizers because you do not have an aperitif (glass of champagne or cocktails) confirmed by the waiter. All the tables had different appetizers but not our table due to the simple fact that we had a bottle of white wine to start. I learned that you had to like champagne or cocktails to deserve the same service as on the other tables, which is unfortunately not the case for me and my guests followed me, sad for them (I should add which we also had a bottle of red wine afterwards). I find this lamentable for a gourmet restaurant, one Michelin star and for the 8-course menu at €130. For dinner, I was not transported compared to the first time. But this does not deserve criticism because tastes and colors are unique to each person: combination of trout and geranium, lobster and grapefruit (average for me) and cabbage (favorite). For dinner I just regretted that for the pigeon we didn 't ask for cooking and that we didn 't specify that it was very, very spicy. In conclusion, the experience inoculated me for a moment."
