"Look, the French are some of the nicest and most hospitable people on earth (outside of Paris), but it's their darn country and not every menu has to be bilingual. So, just set up with that expectation, and pray a bit to Saint Julia (Child) for help. It will be good. I got the Roquefort burger with chips and loved the burger-- however, the fries/chips were a bit soggy. Superb local ketchup was available. My wife had the Salad Victor Hugo and absolutely loved it. The staff was very busy and service was a bit slow as a result but that's to be expected at the peak of lunchtime on the weekend and we were grateful for the table. Look, I was going to dock a point for the fries, as I think I give out five stars to freely, but, well, I had such a good time! Authentic food at good prices, 32 Euros for lunch, which is as good as it gets. The locals seem to love the place, and I really think I should have gotten the tartar, since all the locals were tucking into it with gusto. Great family atmosphere-- among the crowd was two infants and one could barely hear a occasional "goo", so I am very grateful for the well-behaved French children. Location is blocks from Saint Sernin's basilica, so very good place to kill some time waiting for the special exhibits to open. Great convenience store next door for your shopping needs after lunch!"

this restaurant is very well decorated and offers a good welcome we have been well advised and the dishes are very good for a resonable price. short this restaurant is a masterclass and the servers are crackers.

One would expect an establishment so close to the market to have first rate ingredients, the cheese plate was 7 presliced slices of 2 different cheeses, both semi hard. No blue or soft cheese. Accompanied by a few lettuce leaves, 1/8th of a tomato and a teaspoon of tinned sweet corn. The worst meal we had in Toulouse. We went there because it advertised all day service and many restaurants start serving meals at 7, it was 5.30. Don't go there, have anything else, anywhere.

My wife and I had dinner at Le Victor Hugo restaurant on Saturday 13 May. We were headed to the neighboring pub for dinner, but because a football game was being broadcast, the pub was packed. So we decided to try the Le Victor Hugo. We ordered the cassoulet that was the special – I think it may always be the special meal as it is advertised in the windows of the restaurant. It was a nice serving of beans with a duck leg and thigh along with a slight spicy link of sausage. I liked the seasoning, but my wife thought it a bit salty. The service was friendly and efficient.

So very disappointed with the service and the quality of the food. I ordered a Salad Hawaienne which was a big bowl of very limp lettuce with very thinly sliced pineapple (the only thing I would eat) the Ham was inedible and mostly fat. My husband ordered a steak which was so tough he could not cut it with a serrated knife and fries which were burnt to a crisp. We told the waiter we were not happy with the food and he just shrugged and did not care. I do not usually write negative posts but the whole attitude of this restaurant was just so bad, I kept the receipt so I would not forget to post this.
