"Midway through our 26 kilometre walk around Paris -- from Pont Neuf to the Musee de Arte Moderne to the basilica Sacre Coeur to Galeries Lafayette -- we struggled to find a casual and wholesome place for lunch. In the middle of the construction of rue de Berri, we spotted Luzzu. Here's the concept: self-serve from a cooler, healthy food a la carte where circa 9 euros buys you an aromatic water (water with lemon and herbs for me), a sandwich and a soup. The soup and sandwich are heated and you bring it all to your table on a tray. C'est bon. My soup was mostly pumpkin with some chestnut pieces in the bottom and was quite good. My sandwich was comprised of lettuce, grated carrot and some white mysterious spread; not so tasty but it did fill me up. My wife's sandwich looked better -- a tidy baguette with beef -- but she reported it to be tasteless and the beef stringy. Her soup was good. So, yes, our appetites were sated but we wouldn't go back. For such a restaurant to be viable, its food marketed as healthy still needs to taste good. And if your restaurant concept isn't self explanatory, there's work to be done. Unfortunately, both were the case at Luzzu."
