great place. we had luck not to book. I would guess the booking. good. great eating, great service, not in the least snobby.

we wanted to visit this food for many years, and it was not disappointed, we had the 3 curs ala carte menu, we would certainly come back

Visited Magpies this evening with friends, the food was spot on as was the service. So nice to have a menu with a difference, Wild Boar to be recommended! Thoroughly recommend, a quality restaurant in Lincolnshire five stars! View menu

We were staycationing in Lincolnshire and chose Horncastle as a central base a small friendly Market Town. We always seek a fine Restaurant for our last night whether at home or abroad and we were certainly not disappointed by Magpies, excellent food and very varied...wine list and looked after extremely well by our host. Thank you Magpies.

Booked for mid week lunch. First visit having moved to lincolnshire to retire. Greeted into lounge no rush and offered appetisers lovely gesture. Seated in good time and meal came rapidly too.excellent food and service. Post lock down so quiet and no table cloth. We...asked to take deserts and coffee in the lounge which was no problem. Bill surprisingly moderate for good dining. Will use as our restaurant from now on when we want to spoil ourselves.

very expensive, what is good when the service is good. there were 2 young people who were very friendly and friendly. However, the older manager had zero human skills and the group we spent with the walk to the house did not eat or. the restaurant, but its setting and how it ruins the evening. the young waitress held it together. if the manager only smiled, responded if he had spoken, would have helped so much in the evening and made an effort with her dress and care. expected more for the price we paid. eating was good and delicious, but in no way amazing. This was a short notice booking for the last day of our stay in Horncastle and it finished off our few days perfectly. From the calm, comfy arrival to the delicious food and friendly staff. An excellent menu made choosing a little difficult. I started...with the crab and we both settled on the lamb for mains. We were not disappointed, it was succulent and tasty. I didn't want or need a dessert but I'm glad I did, again the creme btulee with frozen berries was a good match but the warm white chocolate sauce was delicious. A thoroughly enjoyable eating experience. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had another incredible meal at Magpies. This is our 3rd visit and the food did not disappoint. The service was excellent attentive but not over the top fussing. My husband has a broad accent and in many places is treated with...disrespect and like he shouldn't be there. However not on any occasion have we been mace anything but welcome and wanted customers. The food was outstanding we like the unusual choices that the menu offers. We have not had a bad mouth full and we look forward to returning when we are next in Lincolnshire. An overnight stay in the Gold room at Magpies; a well-appointed comfy room with big en-suite. No car park but parking bays on road directly in front of hotel. Friendly efficient arrival. Good value DB&B. For dinner we were seated in the cosy lounge and...ate 3 amuse bouche whilst browsing the menu of around 8 choices for each course. the dishes had been well thought thought out and provided something a little different from the run-of-the-mill restaurant dishes. An excellent wine list included lots of half bottles – which is good when you and your husband have entirely different tastes in wine.
