"Firstly just to say, all the reviews left here seeking this place to be a top class eatery, its NOT, its a Wetherspoons, if your expecting food from The ritz, then go to the Ritz. These places are amazing value for money, thats why these people went there whom left negative reviews. Ive NEVER had a bad pint or food in ANY of these establishments. This particular Wetherspoons in the top of town in Basingstoke is always a pleasure to visit, always relaxed, attentive staff and a quick and polite service. I must add Ian in the bar is the ultimate polite and courteous bar man, his patience and manorism is second to none, i would pay this guy to give other bar staff from other pubs a lesson on just plain and simple being polite. Wetherspoons, you should look out for this employee, he will go far, he is the best you will find, think yourself very lucky you,ve got him."

Three hundred and forty nine pence for a double Morgans spiced rum and diet coke, with a glass and with ice. What's not to like!

only came here for a quick pint and to be honest, I think they were far understated. I never had anything to eat because I wanted to go somewhere else.

the best spoon that I was in the middle of the far away, the tables cleaned as soon as empty, the workers we met were all good there jobs and eating was nice and hot. good work.

very pleasantly surprised. I thought here was a rest on the way to dorset and had the manager's special fish and chips for just £ 3.99 my people agreed that it was better than the fish and chips we had for £14 in a gastro pub later in the week. other than that, the personal was friendly and helpful, well done.

a bit natural, thanks to a fair bit loud and overly swear by some afternoon drinkers, but the pub was still good. it was clean and comfortable. the employees have tried to make this pub inviting and visually attractive, many flowers and plants, beautiful terrace and outdoor area on the back. yes agree with other reviews, it was a bit raw. but at least it felt like a real pub! nice staff.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
