I was in several Ethiopian restaurants. Makamba was the best of all. Vegetables and meat with lots of taste make a great combination with exactly the right fluffy bread. Very recommended.

I like the funky interior of this place. The food here is always delicious, well spiced, very flavourful. Well worth a visit, possibly my favourite Eritrean/Ethipian place in stuttgart, though there are still many more to try.

beautiful owners, hardest working people. sell one of the best food round. if they are looking for tasty and spicy foods, don't look further! they will be happy and served here. best injera, lenses and spinach! traditional eritrean food best. love it!

I have the following: carrot-based filling type of samosa, tasty. half a teller vegan friendly to be eaten on brot. as with the hands, with the brot to not get them too dirty, haha . very nice! the restaurant is very well furnished and the owner friendly. all the dishes referred to as vegetarian are in fact vegan.

I love the mixed Veg plate served on the injera sourded brot. the various vegetable pots are delicious and fresh. the food comes on large plates (one for all the table) and they need to ask for fork and knife if they do not want to eat with their hand. this is a family business and the very friendly owner takes care of the service itself. highly recommended!

We came across Makamba on accident. I love african food, so we gave it a chance and asked for vegan options. The utterly sweet service man told us right away their vegetarian menu is actually all-vegan because they don’t use milk or eggs anyway. WINNER! We chose the mixed veg plate for two and were IN HEAVEN! If you love food and spices well-balanced and perfectely cooked, go to Makamba and let them inspire your palate. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the styling in the restaurant. most dishes they order come with the typical Ethiopian injera brot. my was filled with delicious bark stew, really excellent. I especially enjoyed the greenish witness that was apparently a kind of...spinache. my wife got the same Injera bread, but filled with a vegetarian sauce. She didn't complain about it, so I guess it was good. for an Ethiopian restaurant is of course the kahawa typical etophical coffee that reminded me of Turkish mokka style coffee. overall great experience.

"Wow. Simply Awesome! Best dining experience my wife and I have had in several years, probably top all time, and we are real foodie snobs. They squeezed us in with only a couple hours notice. We got the course menu paired with wine....Little did we know that six courses in metric means First came the amouse bouse, a frothy chicken soup plus a croquette topped with dried mushrooms. Paired with wine of course. Then came a home made freshly baked baguette that was crazy delicious served with a dish of sour cream and chives as well as butter with pumpkin seeds. The bread was so good it could have been its own course, and the sour cream was the first of many unusual com I nations, but it worked. Next was a salad a combination of beet root, cabbage, Thai coconut milk and lemon grass. I hate beets and I loved this dish. Next wa the first actual course, duck liver pate and brioche with figs and wine sauce. Amazing! Now how about some slow cooked trout (which strongly resembled salmon) with tangerines and celery root. Then some white cod with Jerusalem artichokes and hazel nuts. Then, to cleanse the palate a glass of deer broth served in a glass like a brandy snifter. We're only halfway through. Now it's a slab of deer meat cooked like a tender steak, served with a cannelloni stuffed with deer and all set over mashed parsley root that could have passed as mashed potatoes. All garnished with an amazing deer gravy/sauce. Next comes some mont d'or cheese served with house made fruit bread, oranges, and rutabaga. Crazy com o but it was delicious. Now for dessert courses. Red wine sorbet. Think you're done? Next comes white chocolate ice cream serve with quince (purée, cubes, and foam) served with a chestnut parfait. Now we're stuffed, but time for another dessert: creme brulee paired with a chocolate brownie and a serving of mango mousse. Crazy good."
