"Marianne is a restaurant in Notting Hill named after the main chef and co-owner Marianne Lumb. She comes from a butcher’s family in Leicestershire, has worked in many great restaurants in London, including the The River Café and Le Gavroche, as well as a private chef for many famous people and in 2009 she made it to the final three of MasterChef: The Professionals. She has also published a book Kitchen Knife Skills' and in September 2013 launched her first restaurant ‘Marianne’. I actually got to meet Marianne after our dinner as she came to say hi and she seemed lovely, super sweet. it was just a question of time until I went to marianne. my daughter and my son-in-law had raided over for months, as fascinated by this teeny weeny 14 sitzer restaurant on a corner in notting hill, the fantastic recordings on all review pages, on one night there was a foregone conclusion.

Marianne also comes out of the kitchen at the end of the meal and talks to all the customers individually which is such a lovely touch. She is extremely personable and passionate and it comes through in her food as well as attention to detail on everything from the décor, to the service and overall experience.

took my partner for his birthday and he said that it was one of the best dinner experiences of all time! I think, depending on the budget, it is not somewhere where I would go for a normal meal and it is more than just dinner. the whole night was a real experience, from amazing service, eating, unanimity of the restaurants (his tiny to the unique wine pairings that were amazing (partner had red wine with its fishing that perfectly matched each other) we couldn't owe all night. Nestled on a quiet street off Notting Hill’s Westbourne Grove, Marianne is a fine example of a mini-restaurant. With just 5 tables, it seats a mere 14 diners and is super intimate (without being cramped)...Marianne’s passion for flavour comes across in her food very well and the theme of the meal was really about extracting maximum flavour from the best ingredients. The Heritage tomato consommé was simply incredible I couldn’t believe the flavour she had packed into it – i shall remember that taste in my mouth for a long time to come. This is modern fine dining with a beautiful feminine touch to it.

Marianne was the perfect way to sign off a trip through a variety of London restaurants. The food was all of a good standard with the venison main and dessert hitting the spot perfectly. Front of house in the form of one very busy person really helped the whole experience. Every table got plenty of attention but he still found time to talk between delivering plates and drinks so the room felt really sociable Based on this experience, Notting Hill has gained a lovely addition to the neighbourhood. I hope they continue to thrive even if it means it’s difficult for me to book again in the future. Although I’ll keep trying.

from the surprising truffle popcorn, through the taste-bod-envigorating pumpkin soup with entenei and speck (not miss), the spectacular tricolour thick foam, to the delightful competition four our meal was pure joy, revitalized by a wonderful sommelier and its wine selection, which we wandered from East Europe to West through most eclectic. cost-effective, but not expensive for the scale of experience. our meal was nice tempo, but lasted 3 hours, which seemed to flash. the chefs have created a miracle here and are not knitted into thinking, they get what is on the web page, the innovation seems to go further. that was our 28-year-old and we...more View menu

When I was a baby lawyer, I entertained a fantasy that I would do law for about ten years, then open up a little neighbourhood restaurant. That was before I realised how much physical work, not to mention financial risk would be involved and I don’t do risk. Less a liberation from the law and more a life sentence to a stove. But if I had opened a restaurant, it is highly likely that it would have been something like this. Small, but perfectly formed, Marianne is a beautiful little space. It’s the smallest fine dining restaurant in London, said the waiter. Like you’re in somebody’s very smart dining room and there is something about that intimacy which makes me feel slightly...read more

Having a top-quality restaurant arrive in your neighbourhood is always a wonderful surprise. The residents of Notting Hill seem to have stuck some serious luck with the opening of Marianne Lumb’s self-entitled restaurant – Marianne. While relaxed and friendly in person, chef has clearly built on her incredibility varied private and professional chef experience to put-in-place a kitchen (and team) that runs like clockwork. While the cooking space is only the size of some restaurants’ coldstores, the dining room is equally small, seating a maximum of 14. The delicately lit, calm space is instantly relaxing, dotted with people enjoying exquisite food in a harmonious environment...read more
