"We have been to many good and excellent restaurants, some Michelin starred some not, so we are not phased by high prices and not easily pleased by the quality of service and food served. We had for years planned to visit Maxim's 'one day' and so we arrived. Surprised there was no bar or lounge and that it was much smaller than we had envisaged. The major problem was electricity failures before we had even begun our meal which went on for a couple of hours. Several other diners were becoming incensed and we had waited 1.1/2 hours to receive our starter. The waiting staff all disappeared, and so I too complained. Finally we received the starter and then the main but had one or two of the waiters come to everyone and apologised (at the time) and said that the wine would be free (cheapest bottle is 110 euros), then people would not have been so annoyed. The floor show also appeared to have been cancelled. However, we were told that there would be no charge so I feel I cannot complain too bitterly. However, I don't feel the food justifies the extremely high prices and that poor old Maxim's is just trading on its name rather than its actual value. It would not survive if the name was changed. Disappointed but at least we went there."

I was trying to made reservation few times, but that was always something - restaurant was closed or busy or we had other plans. But finally we did it. It was almost like in Woody Allen movie - trip to the past. Perfect ambiance, good food, perfect wine selection. And french music. I really recommend for romantic evening. Pretty expensive, but really something special. You can feel history of the place. Great!

Great disappointment. On a Friday evening of July, there were only 3 tables occupied, and no atmosphere (the poor singer had trouble getting us vibrating in the middle of a meal), as if the restaurant had lost its superb. Of course there is the framework, but given the price paid, we could expect a high-class service, which was far from the case. dishes are certainly good but are not at the height of the paid price. There's a lot better for cheaper bets.

a special Saturday evening, the 20th anniversary of our daughter. a cold welcome, few people in the room for a Saturday night, air conditioning thoroughly, forced to keep my jacket. an austere atmosphere improved by a good singer during the meal but which is absent at the end of the song to stop his music band. a rich and refined meal but tea and coffee without a mouthful, forced to claim bread during meals. for the price, the service leaves to desired. the place would need a nine-stroke, including health.

maxim' has remained since its creation a true institution of French gastronomy. I recommend you make your choice in classics, entries, dishes and desserts that made the reputation of this beautiful House. When entering, the nest maxim's followed at the choice of either the braised albert sole or the cardin stone fried sole. A similar preference for the Albert sole.To finish on a sweet note the Joyeuse widow crêpe...... a delight!Very beautiful wine map where all the wine regions of france are well represented. To do or to redo!

Had the most desultory dining experience of our 3 week Xmas trip to Europe at Maxim’s. The historic decor is lovely…and that is where it ends. The service is strictly perfunctory and on verge of rude. The menu is extremely limited with the options provided being tired reflections of a bygone era. The prices were equally exorbitant for the quality of the fare. Given the history of the establishment and the prime location this should be a destination restaurant worthy of the trip…I hope ownership and management get their act together as the space deserves so much better.

Never in a restaurant have I felt more welcomed and even though it was for probably the most expensive lunch I've ever had, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Stepping into Maxim's is stepping back in time to La Belle Epoque. From the beautifully mirrored wall with the decadent red seating, it's a diner's dream. Full of remnants from the musical Gigi, it was a lovely experience. The staff was friendly and the food amazing. We had cheese puffs, followed by Asparagus Soup, chicken over freshly shelled peas, coffee and a dessert. There were fresh biscuits and delicious sweet butter as well.

My wife and I saved the best for last: Maxim's. What a rich history, now owned by Pierre Cardin; it was gorgeous, vintage, and seductive. The quality of the food, the presentation of it, the attentiveness of the staff, all first rate by themselves, but splendidly augmented by the rich ambience of the decor, where wine flowed like liquid velvet and the flavors and textures of the array of foods were sublime. We enjoyed the singer, who was fabulous; it was like being at a private concert! At the conclusion of our meal, we commented on the beauty of the restaurant, asked about its history, and were invited to explore the building, which reached at least five floors...rooms reserved for private par...
