"During July and August when the beaches of Salobreña are very crowded, we tend to explore some of the restaurants in town. So pleased we stumbled across Mesón de la Villa. Outside appears somewhat disheveled with plants escaping from their pots; however, do not be put off as the service and food did not disappoint. Whilst we had the menu del día, we shall certainly return to sample the eclectic menu which includes raciones and tapas. The ensalada mixta was fresh and generously portioned as were the second course dishes of lomo (pork loin) and croquettas (ham and cheese), accompanied by sauteed mushrooms and fried potatoes. As we were finishing our first course, we were served a lovely tapa of smoked fish with salad leaves together with small glasses of chilled sopa verde (a refreshing soup of fresh vegetables and herbs). Along side all of this we were served a rosca (circle of bread) that was hot, fresh and drizzled in oil. The range of postres (puddings) we were offered sounded delicious, but we were already full and opted for coffee instead. Our waiter, Daniel, could not have been more attentive. Rather than being slow, I would describe the service as relaxed as befits a leisurely Spanish lunch. The menu del día is 10€"

Had a lovely meal in this restaurant. Some more intesting choices of food than at many local restaurants.

Meson de la Villa has moved to new premises. It is still friendly with a good menu. Old style tapas, you get a different one each time! More a bar than Restaurant, fewer dinning tables than the original. Still the best eine list in town and same friendly family owners. Good to have it back.

Needed an early meal after a flight from UK. Have visited before, and Meson de Vila remains consistently good. Enjoyed a mix of tapas to share, and main courses. Tasty and reasonably priced. Enjoyed a really good Granada red wine, Staff helpful and friendly, good atmosphere despite many faces focusing on the football on TV!

We have just spent our third night here in Salobreña – the first two, we ate at places up in the white town, but tonight we decided to stay at the bottom of the hill in the main town, away from the beach. We found Mesón de la Villa after a stroll around; it isn’t on any of the roadways and settled right in. It’s very Spanish, with eclectic ‘Spanish’ menus of raciones and tapas, as well as a proper dinner menu that we chose from. Following the obligatory tapa of sliced serrano ham and olives, I had Merluza ala plancha (pan fried hake) and my wife had atun ala plancha (griddled tuna). Both were delicious and HUGE. Both came with salad and (for the first time in many a year of eating out) hand...

Made our 2nd visit here with our English friends who live locally in Salobrena for the last 13 years. This is one of their favourite eateries. Family run with friendly waiters and waitresses but not speaking very much English, as you must expect in this area of Spain. We went for lunch and were served the customary FREE Tapas with our drinks whilst looking at the menu. In this case Pork Stew. The others went for Steaks which were all very good and i went for the Ox Tail stew (Rabo de Toro my spelling). This was excellent and cut into small pieces. It is the usual favourite of my pal but his appetite was not so big today hence the steak. Reasonably priced and many locals use it. I would not w...
