"Having previously given this place 5, I 've no option than to reduce that to a 1 review after today 's visit. Ordered what was supposed to be a vegetable soup and what came out was what I can only describe as a congealed curry with hardly any trace of any vegetables. Mixed grill was completely inedible, everything tasted of old grease, mushrooms were vile and still raw in the middle. The meat was either so overcooked it was like leather, or swimming in grease from the chips and mushrooms that it all tasted the same. Only thing he managed to eat off the entire plate was a sausage and an egg. All the chips on kids meals were black and tasted of old chip fat. The ones on the mixed grill were also black, and surprisingly dry whilst also being greasy, I didn 't even know that was possible. When we asked to complain, the manager/chef was sent out the kitchen and told us we were wrong. Such a shame as we 've been here so many times before and never had a bad meal but after today will not be returning. Bad food, and bad customer service. Edit: hilarious that you instantly blame tourists yet we actually live locally and certainly aren 't in the game of trying to rip you off . As you quite rightly pointed out we had a 1 year old baby with us who did drop a few peas on the floor. But as we have visited previously, apologised for the mess previously and even offered to clean up previously, we knew there wouldn 't be any issue with a little mess. We didn 't ask once for the money back so take your footage to social media. Bullying people who leave honest reviews is just pathetic. Maybe the footage will show how awful the food was. Seeing as though you have deleted your disgusting reply... I have added a screenshot for people to see how foul mouthed you actually are."

heard a lot about this place , so finally got to visit . Booked for Sunday lunch with friends Very busy , very hot inside many layers due to cold weather , so could at least remove a few!)and tables VERY close together. Food was very good meat not dry , plenty of perfectly cooked veg to accompany . Highly recommend my only one gripe why is a pint of coke £4!!!! bit steep penalising the driver ... only the 'mixer ' type so even nice

This restaurant is poorly managed and dirty, despite having friendly staff. The food is average and you get what you pay for, but cleanliness should not be compromised. The owner or manager should invest in training staff and improving the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. The establishment is very run-down, and I don't understand the positive reviews. Additionally, serving a plastic ice cream in a plastic cup instead of a proper knickerbocker glass is not acceptable.

I had a delightful Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The food tasted like it was all homemade and was served piping hot, unlike other carveries I've been to. It was very busy, but I had booked a table in advance, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place and am looking forward to returning. My only issue was the small car park - it was so crowded that I had to wait for someone to leave. Overall, I would give this restaurant a perfect 10 out of 10. View menu

I absolutely love this restaurant! The Sunday carvery is amazing, with a great selection of meats and vegetables to choose from. As someone with coeliac and Crohn's disease, eating out can be a challenge, but I trust that they understand my dietary needs. Doug is fantastic at providing delicious gluten-free options, from fish and chips to steak with Stilton sauce. Kellie also does a fantastic job running the bar and making sure they have gluten-free beer and cider available. It's so refreshing to feel understood and appreciated for the challenges that come with these illnesses. Doug's gluten-free fish and chips are the best I've ever had, with a light and crispy batter. Thank you to the staf...

All 4 meals that were ordered were fantastic. The atmosphere and staff were all amazing and it felt so comfortable all evening. We had a mixed grill (he ate every bite), the stuffed peppers (which looked incredible and perfectly done), the steak and ale pie (which was full to the brim with meat and super tasty) and I had a beef burger which, as a burger fan, was absolutely beautiful and perfectly done. All meals came with lovely sides like a good serving of salad/veg and chips. Amazing value for such tasty food. I have also been for a Sunday carvery which I can absolutely say was the best I have had. Loads of meats on offer and each cooked perfectly! Then to top it off with loads of choice f...

"Went for a drive Father's day and ended up having a meal here, we rang and luckily got a table for 7pm. On entry to the Celtic Arms it was a high walled gated area with absolutely beautiful gardens which went on for some considerable area, it is a golf club as well and a beautiful golf course with golf buggies opposite the restaurant. Opposite the golf buggies their is a play area that as I recall was fenced off but attached to the restaurant as its also a bar. On arrival to the resteraunt the manager was extremely warm and welcoming and escorted us to a table just outside of the restaurant. During the time we where in the Celtic Arms I observed the waitress in the restaurant constantly clean and spraying the tables which was absolutely so reassuring since the last covid people have relaxed a bit to much. A young lady who was equally as welcoming came and as us for our order, it was a set three course meal at £23.99 which we felt was really reasonable for such a lovely place. Halfway through our time in the Celtic Arms the young lady went home from her shift that had intially taken our order and I pressume we then passed to another waitress. I felt we where out of the eye of the bar but not in the restaurant so got a little forgotten about, although once we called a member of staff to remove our plates these where remove immediately. The starters where delicious with plenty of prawns on the prawn cocktail and the pate had an amazing homemade chutney. The mains where lamb and beef with the whole meal being cooked to perfection and hot with vegetables cooked just right. A lovely touch we felt was the lady out of the restaurant came and asked us if everything was to our liking and was there anything of the meal we would like a little extra off, I dare say you won't get a ton of potatoes or veg but the gesture was very touching and to be honest the meal size was ample. The desert white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake we shared and both agreed it was delicious, and we then shared a cheeseboard which I had got on the three course set menu. The delicious chutney again appeared with varies cheeses, crackers and grapes. Our compliments where left with the manager and the staff with our thanks for serving and delivering multiple resteraunts can not quite achieve. Well done Celtic arms for your polite, professional manner and serving a delicious good quality meal which was ample portioned, reasonably priced in an excellent environment. Would definitely recommend this place it's beautiful and wins hands down on the last 20 plus places we have been over the last few months. We will most definitely be going back again."
