"I had High Tea for lunch and the sandwiches (cucumber, ham, cheese, salmon, and egg mayo) were soft and delicious, reminiscent of the lunches my mum used to make for me. The little scones and choice of cake from the cabinet were also delightful. We opted for The Maids, a baked custard tart, which was delicious. As I left in the mid-afternoon, I noticed a tempting black forest cake that I will have to try next time. The restaurant had a large kitchen in the back, and I believe everything was made in-house. I also saw others enjoying a traditional roast lunch. What truly made the experience special was the attentive and charming staff, each a character in their own right. The ladies were a delight, showcasing their hospitality skills in a tough industry. People-watching is a favorite pastime of mine, as I also work with the public. The restaurant was filled with a diverse group of guests, adding to the charm of the place. I can't quite pinpoint why I had such a fantastic time, but I believe it was the unique atmosphere compared to the generic chain restaurants everywhere. I will definitely return as places like this deserve more recognition. If only I lived closer, I would become a regular. I give The Maids of Honour a rating of 5, truly wonderful."

I couldn’t tell you what the food is like as I waited for over ten minutes to continually be ignored so left with nothing. Shame.

Delicious high tea. ARTIFICIAL flowers in tearoom opposite Kew gardens is unacceptable. Most disappointing. Not a fresh flower or plant in sight.

The Maid of Honour pastry and Sausage Roll we ordered both came very hot straight out of a microwave so the puff pastries were soggy. This is a culinary sin sadly indicative of untrained kitchen staff and/or poor management.

Apparently I use to come here as a toddler with my parents and so looked it up for whilst visiting Kew Gardens with my kids 40 years later. Lovely, old school place but menu, food and service was pretty average! Be careful they have...

I was treated to Afternoon tea at Maids of Honour on Friday 17th. The service was fantastic despite the apologies that they were short staffed and full. We both had the Special Taster Set Tea and neither of us could finish it! The pastry on...

Terrible food it was stale and heated over. We were a party of 5 and some had travelled from very far but we were so dissappointed all the items were very poor quality. Very sorry to see an old pub go ddown like that. The service was poor because there werent enough people the minimum charge of 20 pounds wasnt justifiable for the poor quality of food and service.

On February 29th we went to Newens, our favourite tea shop in Kew. The wonderful, friendly Nevinha, manager there, welcomed us with her glorious smile! We have gone there for so many years and the scones, pies, quiches, and cakes never fail to delight! Although the shop was busy, the three waitresses were brilliant serving everyone with traditional English teas. Looking forward to our next visit!

I was treated to a special Mother's Day tea by my family. There was a complimentary drink included so we had kir. The portions were large and the tea shop gave us a box to take uneaten food home. We had sandwiches, scones and cake plus sausage roll, quiche and meat or fish pie. All was very high quality and made on the premises. We especially enjoyed the sausage roll and pie. A real treat and thoroughly recommended. I will have to hint to my family that I would like to go again next year.
