"Mixed review here, went for late lunch on a quiet week day, so only a couple of other diners. Staff were very nice and attentive. Service was excellent. The food was good, but a few improvements would have made it excellent. Mainly none of our dishes were hot enough. We had soup, which was lovely. No bread though. The seafood tagliatelle could have done with more clams, but those that were there were still lovely and sweet. The pasta was a bit claggy and stuck together. Steak frites were nice, loved the salad and tomatos, my steak was medium rare instead of medium, but it was a nice piece and I didn't want to send it back. I enjoyed it, and ate most of it, except for the middle which was too rare for me. Garlic butter was cold and had I known they would, charge £3.50 for it I would have declined. Not about the money, but the value for money. Seabream was nice, but could have been warmer, The mussels were enormous, they were well cleaned, although the one I had was a bit gritty. Despite these issues, the food still tasted good, was well presented and the staff were excellent and for me, it's the staff that make or break an experience. I'll be honest, I'm not keen on dining in a tent on a slanted pavement, but the decor is nice and I found the tables and chairs comfortable. We will give 131 another chance on a busier day."

Beautiful hotel and lovely sushi restaurant! The bar is very very busy and very noisy..we were fine with but if you are looking for a peaceful stay may not be the place. Rooms however are very lovely!

Poor, slow service with little care for guests. Food is overpriced and overrated. Lots of other restaurants in Cheltenham that are better. We had to chase consumers to order, for our next course, for the bill. Everything was effort.

What a delightful place, the staff were really friendly and cheerful and the food was scrumptious it’s a lovely location to watch the world go by my daughter in law and I had mussels which were the best I’ve had since France! They were huge, sweet and cooked beautifully the service was great too. My husband had pork belly which was tender and delicious, my son had flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly we all enjoyed lunch and my husband and I just had to share the Eaton mess dessert w would definitely recommend

I went to 131 with my wife and 2 others for a Sunday lunch. We had a fairly average sized lunch and had a nice time although service was slow and the food only mediocre and we to eat in the eyesore of tent city of course. We then got the bill! My share for 2.......wait for it.........was £163. Money isn't the problem here, value for money, however, is and this place is taking liberties. I would advise anybody thinking of going here to go to either Blancs or Cotes who do a better lunch at a much better price and in a building too no less. To be avoided.

Our table of 4 was booked for 1330. For starters one of our party asked for the burrata with tomatoes but it was not available so we decided not to do starters. For mains we ordered short ribs for 3 of us and one tiger prawns. After an hour, no short ribs had arrived but the waiter came to the table with a plate of burrata which had just been delivered and apologised for the delay in the delivery of the mains saying that there was an issue in the kitchen. 20 minutes later a waitress came to say that they were just plating up our lunch. It arrived and was well presented but the beef was drier than Ghandi's flip flop, it was just terrible. We had ordered sides of spinach which was fine and als...

My husband and I have frequently visited the 131 terrace restaurant and chose it as the location to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary with breakfast. I am currently 39 +3 weeks pregnant and asked the waitress for a jug of iced tap water. I would like to add that the temperature at the time was 28+ degrees and I was in need of a large amount of water as during pregnancy it is especially dangerous to get overheated. I was informed by the waitress that establishment policy means they are only able to provide small glasses of tap water to the table. I said this wouldn’t be enough and I asked to speak with the restaurant manager and a jug of water was also declined. At this point we chose...

"The story: Two weeks prior, peeking through the restaurant window, I was intrigued to see the kitchen artizans hard at work creating sushi platters that looked vibrant but also elegant. On the 14th November at lunchtime, I was looking forward to trying Kibou as Japanese cuisine is one of my favourites. It's very hard to see the same level of unique variety that Kibou has compared to the few Japanese restaurants I am local to. We wanted to try an array of items and the mini seasonal menu had just been released in time for our visit as well. The food: The Jo Moriawase and New Style Sashimi were great introductions to the first impressions of the quality and range of the dishes available as they were the assortment dishes. Our server provided us with guidance on what we should try first on the Jo Moriawase in order to prevent ending up with eating soggy nori which we appreciated. The Black Cod Nigiri is nothing I have ever tried before so this was also an interesting experience for our tastebuds. My dad has a tough palate to appease but to my surprise, he was satisfied with the Spider Roll Temaki and Chashu Ramen (he thought the pork broth could have been less strong but nonetheless still enjoyed, not like the artificial flavourings you get in an instant ramen if you know what I mean). The Chirashizushi was great for me as I love my sashimi. I didn't realise the yellow portions were actually tamago/egg roll until I tasted it. Some sort of gastronomical wizardry? My mum really lavished the Yaki Udon textures, with the udon noodles having the right amount of nudge needed to chew and biting into the nice crispy outer layer of the tofu. My only regret is not having enough room to try the desserts. Overall, a unique adventure for the tastebuds! The price: If you are extremely budget conscious, perhaps I would not be able to recommend Kibou to you. For a family of three, we were about £40-50 per person. As of my visit, the service charge is 10%. Don't get me wrong though, I think the service charge is fair and reasonable because our experience with the staff we talked to and came by our table were lovely. The atmosphere: Family-friendly but also evening bar feel. Sakura Cherry Blossom and other Japanese-related art themes run throughout the restaurant. The service: We didn't have to wait very long to be seated or served. The waiting staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The kitchen staff did an amazing job with the food. Would I come again?: Yes, as a treat! Plus I want to try the dessert next time! :"
