"Shop has a good array of products, including fresh, organic produce, canned goods (including tempeh and braised tofu), bread, chocolate, chilled and frozen items, home care and health products, etc. Cash is best: they charge 50p for using a credit card and 20p for debit card. Vegetarian Caf in the back, including a pleasant outdoor patio: coffees, teas, vegan hot chocolate with vegan marshmallows, cakes and scones, soups all three were vegan and gluten-free when I was there; I had the Mexican bean-tomato, served with organic spelt bread and vegan spread. Toasted sandwiches 3.50) with four fillings from a long list of filling options, including three cheeses but also vegan mayo, roasted vegetables, hummus, vegan pesto, grated carrot, olives, cranberries, etc., served with side salad. Organic salad bowl 3.75 takeout, 3.95 eat in. Clives pies and soysage rolls available too but take a while to heat (not in a microwave). Plan on 40 minutes for pies and less for rolls. Sitting on the patio, I enjoyed a piece of sponge loaf with loganberries blueberries (moist and lots of berries) with a cup of good coffee. Free wi-fi available. See their website for more details, like on Facebook or follow on Twitter (to find out when fresh cake is just out of the oven, for example). Updated from previous review on Sunday August 09, 2015"

A small family run café shop. Mostly vegan. We went as a large group for a pre-Christmas lunch. The food was delicious and plenty of it! This is currently the only vegetarian eatery in Torbay. View menu

the shop is nice, good product range, but the caffe is very small and (at least when I went) has a quite small selection of cake. nothing like eating on the other photos here. but the lemon cake and the hot chocolate were nice.

hafer moved to new spaces in fore street in August 2017. it is a nice place with a large selection of products from the shop-coup basics to sweet tasty, care products and cleaning products to organic fruit and veg. also a fridge and freeze cabinet with vegan cheese etc. although it is in first line a health food store, they also have a small cafe area with a few tables for tee good value at £4 for homemade hummus and interesting salads.

large selection of vegan products, from cake to cleaning products! had not noticed any seating in the interior café, but there were places outside. was very tempted by the booja booja ice cream I did not see it anywhere else, but sad would have melted when I came home! bit expensive for some things, but think the prices would be in agreement with other similar shops. friendly dame in service. would definitely visit again for some product types! updated by the previous review on 2022-05-24 View menu

The restaurant offers a wide variety of vegan products, including cakes and cleaning products. I noticed that there were no seats available inside the café, but there were some outside. I was tempted by the Booja Booja ice cream, which I couldn't find anywhere else, but I was worried it would melt before I got home. Some items were a bit pricey, but I think the prices are in line with other similar stores. The lady who served me was friendly. I would definitely visit again for the product variety. now I'm not sure if we went on a bad day/time. but heifers were very miserable. after good reviews, my partner and I had high hopes for a good vegan meal. the mini health food shop is good, with a decent sortiment of products. the caffe was, however, practically not existent, with a single glass cabinet that offers about five cakes (two of them were vegan;) and a limp, boring, day old salat. the cakes were nothing impressive, and the only worker there seemed incredibly boring and not disturbed by us. (We have at the end eating in curious kitchen, a short walk away. it is not vegetarian, but has a few clearly marked vegan meals on the menu that has proven to be very good

"It was with a mixture of delight and trepidation that I greeted the news that The Chart Room First Class Coffee Lounge was reopening with new staff. However, I am happy to report that any trepidation I felt was quickly diminished. I tried the scrambled...egg and smoked salmon bagel on the day of opening and was pleased with the excellent quality and presentation of the food. The ambience had not diminished and it was a pleasure to sit surrounded by the fascinating collection of marine memorabilia listening to songs from the 40's and 50's. The initial menu was small but had been well thought out and there was something to appeal to every palate. The service was friendly and efficient and not obtrusive. Since that initial visit, I have returned several times and it has become an excellent venue to meet with friends. I can report further that other items on the menu are of equal quality and presentation to my first foray. I have tried the cream tea with excellent quality scones (nothing shop bought here) and some of the range of sandwiches. My lunching friends have also reported similar enjoyment of their choices of food. The menu has substantially increased since opening and now there are options for all palates that could tempt even the most picky eater. Also there is a new range of afternoon teas available and I am looking forward to sampling the delights on offer. I am a local and was very upset at the forced closure of one of my favourite haunts, however I am extremely happy with the reopening (even though my waistline may not be). Welcome back Bob and the Chart Room staff and long may you continue."
