"decided to eat here tonight, as we had booked for an overnight and a three-course menu in appleby castle, just to say that they don't have a cook right now! very welcome as soon as we went through the door and started with a few very pleasant local animals while we decide what to eat. fortunately ordered only one main meal, the lammhenry, which was a very generous part of lamb, kartoffelmaic, carrots, carrots and engraving was washed by a Chilean shiraz. I would not hesitate to return to this pub if we were in the opposite again as the personal, and local customers where so friendly and the eating and service was excellent"

"OK, this pub is small but has the biggest and best service. Furthermore the food. Its fantastic, the menu is changed daily, the cook is well made, extremely tasty and well presented,. Definitely worth a visit. Prices are fair too. Oh and for those attached to their phones, the signal is poor so you may find you have to talk to each other instead of texting Price per person: £20–30"

"During our vacation, we decided to have breakfast at Eden River Cafe before taking the bus to Penrith. We were the cafe's first customers for the day and enjoyed freshly cooked food. The meal was excellent value for money and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful."

"This charming restaurant is definitely worth a visit, as it is managed by a delightful couple who excel in their craft. They welcome dogs, and you might even have the chance to meet their adorable pub dog! All the dishes were freshly prepared, and they provided us with detailed explanations of the menu as well as expert advice on drinks. My husband particularly enjoyed the local Settle Brewery beer. The pub fare was delicious, with the lamb shank being a standout dish. The restaurant is located in a lovely historic setting, and the real fire adds a cozy touch on chilly, rainy evenings. We were able to walk in without a reservation, but I would recommend booking in advance during peak season. Note that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays."

"Ate here whilst staying in the hotel and the food is delicious. Well presented using the finest ingredients and cooked to perfection. This is not a pile it high kind of establishment so don't expect belly busting portions and gravy dripping off the edge of the plate. Its fine dining at its best. The menu is not excessive but there is ample choice and each dish sounds and looks beautiful. There was a leaning towards game when we ate here which is fine by me as I love it. I was not disappointed. The pigeon and duck I had was perfectly cooked. Top marks for the chef and equally fine service from the waiting team."
