"This restaurant offers a truly exceptional fine dining experience. The scallops and pork belly starter was sensational, while the crab lasagna was simply out of this world. I also enjoyed a wonderful rhubarb crumble for dessert. The service was outstanding, and the ambiance was lovely. This is a place I would gladly visit at least once a month. Five stars — a perfect 10 out of 10!"

Six of us dined here just before Christmas, and we had a fantastic meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Very good food well served and presented. Too small for any real ambience and well dressed tables did not fully compensate for use of cafe space

Location difficult to find and when phoned went to answer phone. Waited 1.5 hours for food apparent issue with kitchen. Food venison under cooked. Wine poor quality.

A really refreshing and exciting addition to Oundle's dining scene. The crab lasagne as utterly delicious, as was the Touraine Savignon. We will look forward to going back.

Really exceptional food, with generous portions. Only a few tables occupied on a Saturday night which was a shame for the staff, hopefully numbers will improve as I would like to see them succeed so I can go again!

This was our second visit, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The menu may not be extensive, but it is quite diverse and offers a genuine variety of flavors. My partner loved the crab dish he had tried last time so much that he decided to order it again, and I’m glad I did too! It was a great choice. We'll definitely be back.

This was our second visit, and it was just as delightful as the first. The menu, while not extensive, is well-rounded and presents a true variety of flavors. My husband loved the crab lasagne he tried on our last visit so much that he decided to order it again, and I couldn't resist joining him! It was an excellent choice. We'll definitely be returning.

Fantastic dining experience! The scallops and black pudding starters were sensational. The crab lasagna was out of this world. The large rhubarb dessert was delicate and delightful. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was beautiful. This is a place I would happily visit at least once a month! Definitely deserves 5 stars, or a perfect 10 out of 10!

"Well, let me tell you about this little gem of a place I discovered during my cycling journey – The Ship Inn in Oundle. I was on the saddle, pushing the pedals hard from Wellingborough to Peterborough, when I decided I deserved a wee bit of a break. I wasn 't looking for anything fancy; just a spot to catch my breath and refresh myself. And there it was, The Ship Inn, almost as if it knew a weary traveler was in need. As I stepped in, I must admit, I was a touch self-conscious. There I was, a bit of the road clinging to me in dust and sweat, walking into what could only be described as a posh establishment. But my worries were for naught. The place had this inviting warmth to it, and I 'm not just talking about the decor. The fireplace, oh, it was a sight to behold! An actual, crackling fire that seemed to say, Come on over, sit yourself down, and warm those tired bones. It was exactly what I needed, a lovely fireplace making my break not just accommodating, but downright cozy. Now, I didn 't get a chance to sample their food – this time, anyway – as I only indulged in a non-alcoholic beverage. But if the drink was anything to go by, I bet the cuisine is worth a try. The service, you ask? Spot on. Friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They treated me like I was a regular, not batting an eye at my cycling attire or the fact that I looked like I 'd just emerged from a dust cloud. Despite the posh airs of the place, not once did I feel out of place. The staff and the patrons alike, they were all about the warm welcomes. I tell you, The Ship Inn is one of those places you stumble upon and immediately know you 'll be coming back to – next time, perhaps, for a hearty meal after a long ride. In short, The Ship Inn in Oundle? It 's a haven for the travel-weary, a spot where the fire 's always burning and the welcome 's always warm. I 'll be sure to make it a pitstop on my future routes, and who knows, maybe next time I 'll be telling you all about their culinary delights. But for now, I 'll just tip my cycling cap to them for a well-deserved break on a long day 's ride."
