"We started with chicken liver pâté, which was decent but on the small side. Unfortunately, the first two main courses we wanted to order—the fish dishes—were sold out, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. That's simply poor planning. Our third option was a chicken and mushroom pie, which was more gravy than filling, with very little chicken. While it tasted okay, it was not worth the £18.50 price tag.
When we asked for a wine menu, we were told there wasn’t one available. We decided on a bottle of Merlot, which was decent but overpriced for what it was. Our young waiter was attentive and apologetic about the sold-out dishes, which was appreciated.
In the end, our bill came to just under £80 for a pretty average meal. It was our first outing for a meal in a long time, and we left feeling rather disappointed. Even during breakfast the next morning, our name was missing from the table reservation list, adding to the sense of disorganization. Overall, it wasn’t the best experience, compounded by a mix-up at check-in. All in all, it left us with a negative impression of the place."
