"Excellent food and service under a canvas awning on a warm sunny day in May (after a few days of broken weather) on an island in the Venice lagoon. What's not to like? The mature woman and man who served us could not have been nicer. Each course was a treat. Cost per person for lunch, including a bottle of wine between two, came to about 65 euros per head (Venice is not cheap). Getting to Torcello takes time. Being Sunday, good weather and Italy's Mothers' Day no doubt added to the throng going out to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello (the first two are on the way) and the Vaporetto boats were very busy. Making the necessary change of Vaporetto at Burano on the way back, we had to queue in the sun for nearly half an hour because the first boat back to Venice could not take everyone. So allow a lot of time each way, and add ninety minutes at least if you wish to walk around part of Murano or Burano island en route. Also leave up to an hour if possible to visit the extraordinary, ancient basilica on the island, a short walk beyond this restaurant, with its large mosaic of the Virgin and Child and its fresco of the Day of Judgment which helps to keep one's good fortune at being able to dine in a place like this in perspective."

Sadly we only had time for coffee and biscuits in this lovely space on the island of Tocello. I am told that it is very popular for weddings and big family gatherings and you can see why. Not only is there a beautiful covered area attached to the house but also a large table in a charming garden building in the middle of the large garden. The staff were efficient and friendly for our large group of tourists visiting the island for only a few hours. The toilets are lovely

We have been here 4 times over the last several years— it’s a highlight each time we get to Italy. I’d say it’s Michelin star food at regular restaurant prices—we are always so surprised at how delicious the first bites are of each course! This time I just asked what to order, and tried the trittico di saor—marinated sardines and other fish. It didn’t sound like something I’d like—but I trusted the waiter. It was amazing! I had the fegato Veneziana—so tender and with sweet onions. Yum. My husband had the scallops and the mushroom pasta— he was very happy, too. With Prosecco, then wine, dessert and coffee , our bill was $160– you don’t have to order all we did— for us it was a special meal to...

"This is my second review on this place...after The Fork assured me they would resolve the situation following my complaint about the 20% discount that You Sushi would not honour. Food and drink... no problem. Nice enough food. That 's the good bit out of the way. We booked using The Fork and quoted the 20% discount offer on food and drink. I also reiterated this when we arrived and was told that was fine, no problem! On receiving the bill I again pointed out the 20% discount was missing, even though I 'd gone through this on arrival. They played absolutely dumb and refused the discount. I even showed them their website with the discount on it. To no avail, they weren 't interested. I paid, albeit reluctantly, and we left. I took this up with The Fork. All seemed fine and they gave me Yum points since they agreed I was in the right. I pointed out that Yum points are of no use since the closest UK restaurant I could use them is over 200 miles away! They promised to get back to me, resolve the issue with the restaurant etc so I left it with them. Now they 've washed their hands of it! The discount still shows at 20% for each and every day despite them refusing to honour it!! and The Fork have not taken any action against them. This leaves a very bad taste no pun intended and after the cheating restaurant and The Fork 's complete lack of trying to help other than utterly useless Yum points which are as much use to me a 7 dollar note it 's the last time I use either. So..if you do visit this place, be prepared to be conned out of the 20% discount."
