"We came to town on holiday and stopped at this cafe that said non profit, so as we were hungry we decided to have the breakfast, well I can honestly say DO NOT HAVE ONE. The toast was rock hard the sausage were warmed up, the butter was like water and beans were dry, I left mine but my husband struggled and NO one asked why I didn't eat it. And to top it all it cost £28 for two drinks and 2 breakfast and if that's None profit there is something wrong, will never go here again"

Appalling service. Told 20 min wait but no food delivered after 45 mins. Had to move rooms because of a private party. No apology when we cancelled order and asked for refund

Whenever we are in Shrewsbury this is our place for lunch, excellent food and very friendly staff. They also allow well behaved dogs which is great for us. Tuna melt baguette for me Mmmmm View menu

This place is a life saver for families, inexpensive, good changing facilities, helpful staff, loads of highchairs, plenty of room for pushchairs, play corner, sofa (perfect for breast feeding), kids menu and cutlery, accessible doors and changing. This place serves the community very well, super inclusive.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
