"We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch. Haven't been for many years and thought whilst we are experiencing such nice weather we would give it a try as the views are spectacular. First of all i booked on line and the website said i would receive a confirmation. I did not receive this so gave the hotel a call on Friday to confirm and they had not received it. They asked if i could come a little later than we had wanted and so expected the restaurant to be busy it wasn't. The table in the restaurant was fine and the views just as expected. However we did all comment on the smell it was the fat in the cooking you could smell. There were 4 of us, 2 adults, 1 teenager and a child. At no point were we asked if we required a children's menu so we all ordered off the main menu. The starters arrived; 2 of us had the salmon and 2 had the chicken wings. All dishes were nicely presented and tasty. Main courses, my husband had the fish and chips, i had the roast beef dinner and the kids had the chicken and sea bass. The food was very average except the sea bass. This was not acceptable. I wish we had taken a photo! The piece of fish was approx 7 cm long and 4cm wide in a rectangular shape and overcooked. My teenagers face was a look of disappointment or maybe just disbelief!. There was 2 or 3 mouthfuls and gone ... not many potatoes and a mess of veg. We mentioned it to one of the staff and we were told that sea bass is expensive. We then explained that yes we know that but this piece was a joke. He then offered said he would not charge for a glass of wine or we could change the dish but it would be a while. My teenager said he would just eat it. All in all disappointed and will be sometime before we try again as there are much better places in our lovely area."

Exceptional food and service at this restaurant. Part of a lovely hotel that's just near enough to be far away from it all. Amazing views.

We ate in the bar adjoining the restaurant. It was nice and cosy, food was excellent particularly the steak, and restaurant manager was extremely helpful. Be aware though that this is a pet friendly hotel so you may find dogs in the bar or breakfast room.

We went last Sunday for lunch. Three generations on a family reunion. If it hadn't been for another big birthday party, the restaurant would have been empty. Fortunately we're a lively family and made our own atmosphere. The views are fabulous but we were sitting as far away from the window as possible. View menu

What a shame it’s gone so downhill. No one but us in the restaurant, no one in the bar, no atmosphere at all. The food was poor beef dinner was not hot enough and fish n chips were very poor, frozen chips which looked reheated and mushy peas you could use as cement. It’s such a shame as it used to be so nice. No bar snacks available either what a let down!

Amazing Sunday breakfast. It looks closed when you drive in to the car park and if you try to get in through the restaurant door you will still think it’s closed. Be creative go to hotel reception, no obvious sign just look for the door. If you are persistent you will be delighted by the breakfast. We went for Fathers Day breakfast. Choice of raspberries, strawberries, melon, yogurt cereal etc. Followed by cooked breakfast made to order. Beautifully cooked ingredients which. I couldn’t resist toast and marmalade to finish. Choice of a pot of tea or coffee. My only criticism would be that the coffee could be a little stronger but that’s my preference. A lovely food experience sat at a white s...

Booked for the Mother’s Day afternoon tea . There were three of us. We were seated and served promptly . We got our tea and coffee . The afternoon tea is nothing special some very basic sandwiches, unfortunately they seemed like they had been “stood” not fresh as they were a little dry. The scones were small, no fruit we weren’t given a choice as to with or without . The Jam and clotted cream were stingy and there was barely enough for two scones let alone three . The cakes were ok, limited in the selection as it was carrot and walnut , and then another carrot like cake, a macaroon which was nice and then a dry chocolate cake . Over all experience wasn’t awful, the staff were ok . The aftern... View menu

My husband and I have just arrived back after a weekend here. What a lovely, relaxing hotel to stay at. Comfortable surroundings in a very warm atmosphere, this beautifully situated hotel is the perfect stop off point to explore the wonderful rolling Dale's. Quite a small room ,however, it was tastefully decorated, warm with a comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. I have to say it was spotlessly clean throughout. The staff were especially helpful and friendly, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. Warm friendly smiles from both staff and patrons made a very welcoming visit for us. Again the bar and restaurant were decorated lovely throughout, with two large fires to burn a...

Today we enjoyed one of the best afternoon tea’s I’ve ever had. This needs booking beforehand as everything is baked fresh. In our party we’re 3 adults and 3 children. We ordered for 5. We were seated in the bar area and were made extremely welcome. Lovely touch, proper linen napkins. An amazing selection of freshly prepared sandwiches including hand carved beef and ham, tuna mayo, egg mayonnaise and cheese. More than enough, we probably only managed 3/4s of them. The homemade desserts were to die for. Fresh out of the oven scones with jam and cream. Lemon tart, brownies, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate milkshake( made with ice cream) and I can honestly say the best panacotta I have ever tas...
