"This is a beautifully located cafe at the top of Hilly Fields in Brockley, with a great view.I know other reviewers disagree but I 've always found the staff helpful and friendly, even at busy times. The choice of food is good, with hot sandwiches, soups, coffee, ice cream and more. The venue occasionally hosts concerts/other events and is genuinely a wonderful community hub for Brockley. You can see that the owners and staff work hard to make it a friendly, welcoming place. Two downsides:1. Maybe it 's just me, but I always find the prices here rather high, particularly for baked goods/pastries. Today, for example, a brownie square (about 1cm x 1cm x 2cm) was for sale at £1.60. Croissants etc are £3 plus. Coffee and a small toasted sandwich £6.50. 2. Child friendly is an understatement. Perhaps because of the area 's demographics, the ratio of babies:dogs:adults is usually very skewed in favour of the former. That means that if you are one/two adults looking for a place to chat, this cafe may not deliver. There is literally non stop screaming, crying, Tarquin, put down that hummus! etc. Families may be the cafe 's main customer base (and more power to them), but if you 're looking for somewhere quiet to read the paper, work, chat or anything else this (unfortunately) is probably not the best place to do it."

I've been a regular here pretty much every weekend for years. Service could be a little faster, but it is usually friendly and quality is consistently good. Nice toasties, cakes, ice creams. Never disappointed.

This restaurant is a tidy and cozy spot that is a perfect place to escape in both winter and summer. Their affogato is fantastic and they have delicious homemade cakes. They offer free water for kids and dogs, as well as a selection of newspapers.

Awfully rude staff (the older members of the team). Will not be going back. The longest queues — but when you know you’re a busy cafe do you make coffee one by one. Buy a bigger milk jug. Help reduce the queue who wants to queue for 20 mins and be met by rude and arrogant people?

The idea that service is everything is ridiculous, as both times I have visited this cafe, including just last week, I have been met with unfriendly, unsmiling staff. I will give it one more chance today to see if anything has improved. It's disappointing, because the cafe has a charming atmosphere and offers a wide selection of menu options and treats.

We are regulars to this cafe and think the coffee is great and have enjoyed a tasty sandwich there too but we just can't eat the cakes (which we now jokingly refer to as spit cakes! We've seen them coughed on, touched by people leaning over the counter and handled by kids in the queue. It would be so simple to cover them with cloches. It's such a shame because they look delicious!

This place would be 5 star except for the display of lovely croissants, cakes etc. which lie uncovered alongside the queue. I saw kids sneezing and coughing over them; even one handling them while the staff seemed oblivious. No way am I going to eat anything from that counter until they sort it out. A simple transparent shield would solve the problem.Difficult to give a realistic rating because, to me, all the good work is spoiled by this one issue. View menu

I visited Pistachios in the Park on a Bank Holiday Monday, hoping for a nice cooked breakfast. However, my experience was far from pleasant. Despite checking their website and menu beforehand, I was disappointed to find that the menu was different upon arrival. The staff seemed confused and unaware of basic items on the menu. The food I ordered was subpar and poorly cooked, with uncooked spinach and underdone eggs. The service was also lacking, with staff members forgetting my tea and being unhelpful. To make matters worse, I was asked to leave by a rude older woman without being given a chance to order more. Overall, my experience at Pistachios in the Park was disappointing, with poor quali...

We are very fond of Pistachio's and given that it is hardly ever quiet obviously so are lots of other local people. This is not a cafe to visit if you can't cope with crowds, fresh air, dogs and noise. It should be no surprise to anyone from first sight of the building that this is how it is. It stands in the middle of a very well-used park popular with families, runners, dogwalkers, staff and students from the school a stone's throw away and lots of other local residents. The menu is short and clear and the food is freshly prepared to order. I find it very odd that the previous reviewer expected a full English breakfast, as it is obvious from the menu that that isn't on offer. The coffee is...

"Me and my flatmates went to Naifs to celebrate one of our own's MA degree with a nice meal, and we are so glad that we did. Anne and the team were incredibly personable and friendly, which really stood out to us. As somebody who has worked many years in hospitality, one can tell that there is clearly a very tight-knit team at work here who does what they do out of and with love. We really enjoyed the concluding chat with the kitchen team about the amazingly delicious olive oil they served us with the bread it comes straight from the chef's uncle's olive plantation! The atmosphere was really lovely as well, and a lot of thought clearly went into it: there were lots of candles, soft light, beautiful serving plates. We found the decor very tasteful in general: the restaurant has a cozy, but elevated bistro feel to it which makes it the perfect place for a broad variety of occasions. We had the set menu, which at 27 GBP came at very good value. The menu really demonstrated just how colorful vegan and vegetarian spreads can be: the colors on the table alone were such a delight to behold! Needless to say it also all tasted amazing. We particularly liked the mushrooms in lemony broth, the dhal and the aubergine stew. Every dish had a creative spin on it that made it into something we had never tasted in that way before. The wine that was recommended to us was very nice as well. We finished our meal with a selection of British cheeses, which was very well put together. Naifs focuses on seasonal and regional ingedrients, which is another factor that really convinced us, and which is something that more restaurants should focus on. Whether you're a veggie or not: if you want to dine at an all around truly special place, you need to try Naifs. Keep up the awesome work, guys we will be back very, very soon."

"my friend and I went to capitulate for dinner to celebrate his birthday, as was capitula, we thought the only decent restaurant in blackheath. all the others seem to be pushing down quickly. we have been in the past often in the capitulas, and the food and services were good we had no appetizers and ordered only one main meal (black foam and black bell), because we were not huge hungry because we were eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! we had a glass of wine and were offered a piece of bread. 35 minutes later we waited for our food. in this time no one came to ask if we were in order or offer us more drinks. I asked the manager if our food was ready. he said it would be 5 minutes without a statement of delay then disappeared 10 minutes later there was no sign of food or manager. That is why we decided to go because we lost interest in eating. we have to go and the manager came by. he told us the delay was due to a big party in the ground floor. this was not the case, there was a group of 8 people who had finished their meal for a long time. we were there earlier when it was much more business and the service was not so bad. while we waited, we saw a customer who had finished their meal, slipped £20 into the manager hand when he left. Perhaps the workers need bribe to provide good services? it is such a scandal, but another blackheath restaurant has become complicit and believes that it with the treatment of its customers without respect. I will vote for one with my feet and will not eat again in this restaurant. I will also leave everyone I don't know to go there"
