Abyssinia - Menu

We took the special abyssinia (the great classic) and were not disappointed! The dish is very rich and absolutely delicious. for dessert we took the baklava home, excellent also :-). Have a redo!

the card is friendly and the server is pleasant and smiling. not knowing Ethiopian cuisine, we had taken the tasting menu, and were very happy with our choice. We will come back with great pleasure.

We took a tasting menu in this friendly little restaurant of typical Ethiopian cuisine, and it was a very pleasant surprise. Flavored and tasty portions, very pleasant reception, with the explanations of rigor for each portion in the dish. To do!

Once exceeded the original presentation and eating with the fingers, I expected to discover new flavors and unusual spicy scents under our latitude. Unfortunately, apart from a spicy chicken, the rest was very classic. a shame for a charming restaurant that made a certain effort in a delightful decoration. service (too?) discreet, which seems to be satisfied with a clientele of inhabitant but fishing by lack of advice for new customers.

the restaurant is certainly very good, but the reception and understanding are not part of this establishment. I got a good real deal to go enjoy a menu in this restaurant. When I wanted to book a table, the good was denied to me without any discussion because it had been dropped for two days. I'm all the more disappointed in myself, because we were looking forward to enjoying this cuisine I don't know. And as we live far enough from the lausanne we couldn't go there before. Too bad that the flexibility is not at the rdv of this restaurant, so we won't move for them.

For a change, try this restaurant. we were like in a living room, sitting on sofas around a coffee table. We ordered the typical meal where we had to eat with the hands. Several people in the group being intolerant to gluten, we ordered rice instead of injera (a sort of crêpes with acid taste), which arrived only at the end of the meal. The meal did not at all agree to me, but it is a matter of taste. I didn't find any "exotic" in my meal, besides the spicy chicken. I think it was missing a description of the dishes once the meal on the table. And without forgetting, you have to be ready to eat with your fingers.

On our first ever visit to Lausanne, we looked up restaurants on Maps and this one popped up so we said why not, since we absolutely love Ethiopian food. The atmosphere was absolutely depressing. Dim lights (not in a good way) and dusty corners. We chose a Menu Dégustation for 2 people, the price in front of it was 38 CHF which seemed quite OK. We've been to better restaurants in Geneva which had similar prices. After our food arrived, we were disappointed in the mediocre quality and quantity of it. It was meh. Not bad, just meh. We didn't finish our plate, and after a more mediocre dessert, we asked for the check and to our surprise, it was 86-ish francs! Apparently, 38 CHF was the price pe...

We wanted to propose something original to friends who came to visit us and booked in this restaurant for the first time. When we arrive, we are quickly placed, the atmosphere is there and disappointing (African music, typical decoration.) the meal served (mean tasting) is very rich and very colorful, it feels like. the dishes in themselves are very good, well seasoned, although the taste of the cake, quite strong, tends to take a little on top. samboussas and ice-based dessert and fresh fruit were also delicious. all the more so because we had only ordered two desserts, but the server reported four by mistake: we kindly pointed out to him, and the two desserts too much were offered to us. I really like Ethiopian food and was looking forward to this visit as I had recently visited another Ethiopian/ Eritrean restaurant close by called the Red Sea. My first impression of Abyssinia from the outside was not really great. I think the entrance signboard and façade looked outdated and could definitely improve apparently the restaurant has been around for a decade). looks a bit like a Kebab take away shop. But this was ok and could be overlooked as the interiors were a different story altogether. As in really really great! Rustic, authentic decor from the ceiling to the seating to the menu card right up to the toilet entrance! Really loved it! I love authenticity and this place oozed...
