What a brilliant village pub, owned by the community and giving off a really friendly vibe. The meal was great value, beautifully prepared and quickly served. Wish we could have been there for the Sunday quiz. Sounds like fun.

Went for a Christmas menu meal. Excellent three course meal. Everything was first class and value for money. The turkey was full of flavor and the vegetables were plenty and superbly cooked. Ever time we have eaten here the food has been spot on

Due to staying at Slaley Hall and not fancying any of the food on offer in the restaurant, we ventured out and found this little gem! Wonderful, friendly service and excellent tasty food. Should I ever be in the vicinity again, I wouldn't hesitate to return! View menu

Very nice staff, really friendly. We arrived a bit early and they had just opened but they organised drinks and a menu and served us very quickly. Very very good food well cooked and plenty sized portions. Highly recommend a drink and eating here. Closed on Tuesdays.

As per normal excellent food and service. Cannot fault the food, I had chicken and haggis wrapped in bacon with a peppercorn sauce. I chose chips and peas, but it does come with boiled potatoes and veg. The Christmas menu is out and is great value for money. Suggest booking early, we have.

‘’Twas the night before New Year’s Eve and we’d chosen to eat at the pub in the village near to where we were staying at Slaley Hall. I wasn’t that sure about booking here but I’m hugely pleased to say that we all enjoyed the food and hospitality. The initial welcome was as warm and friendly as was the service and complimented by really good pub food. Make sure you are hungry because the portions are plentiful and full of flavour. can not recommend this place very much! we were uncertain if it were even open, as we heard that the village would have been without water and made due to the storms. a group of 10 of us came to a very warm welcome, nothing was too much annoyed for the staff and although we arrived early, they smelled tees and coffee when the rest of our party arrived. the menu offered a large selection including a vegan / vegetarian menu. our group had a selection of appetizers, netzens and puddings. we couldn't blame. well made to rose and crown, we will be back.

booked for an early evening on Sunday meal. the day had been terrible wet, but we came to a warm welcome and a fabulous meal in this community pub. it was certainly popular in the bar area. the restaurant was quieter, but it had just reopened for the evening service. there were 5 of us with 2 pig flours, 2 chickens and 1 bark meat. everyone agreed that it should be delicious and like a traditional roast. the quantities of meat were considerable. the following puddings were just as good. this is a great pub with good service and seems a bargain at the price. definitely worth a visit.

I visited this restaurant on October 15th, 2023 for Sunday lunch. It is located a 15-minute drive from Hexham in a beautiful setting with lovely views from the dining area. The pub is cozy and has a traditional feel from the early 20th century, not overly old-fashioned. We had Sunday dinner and the food was fantastic. The Sunday roast was served promptly and was delicious, with a side of Yorkshire pudding, carrots, and turnips that were exceptional. The menu had a good variety and the prices were very reasonable.
