"We stopped in this quaint, little Portugese restaurant while poking around the waterfront section of the city. Only wanting a light lunch, we ordered two different soups, one with various vegetables and the other a traditional soup with potato and shredded kale. Although the server was friendly, the food was very slow in arriving. The place was not busy, maybe 4 other customers already eating but it took a while to get our drinks. It took more than half an hour to get our bread and soups! The soups were small but tasted good. We sat across from the display fridge with all kinds of whole fish on ice. The restaurant had some interesting decorations and a large flatscreen TV playing the soccer matches. We didn't mind passing the time here, it was pleasant, but only average in terms of food. The prices were on the high side for the main dishes."

Went here for my holy Friday dinner. The cod was amazing and really prepared in the traditional Portuguese way. The atmosphere was also very pleasant. The staff could be a little more friendly though, but in a certain way it adds to the old school taverna feeling.

The restaurant is one of the cheapest ones in the area of Portuguese restaurants in Hamburg and not a fine dining place but the quality of food is good and the fish food options are plenty. The portion sizes are fine and the food itself is quite simple, traditional and delicious. I also liked the marine and a bit rusty decoration quite a bit. Not the best service but suited well for the general image of the place. If you are looking for good sea food place with nice price level try this one. I would definitely visit it again.

To start we had two servers come to are table, both of which were terribly rude, and made us feel good and unwelcome. Then we ordered and ate, the food was terrible, paella I like to eat and tried my wife's, it was not eatable. I ordered the Gambas....six shrimp scampi that were under Red Lobster quality and very small. I got a tiny side salad with that all for 12 Euros...the prices I thought were good when looking at the menu but after sampling the fare was overwhelmingly disappointed. Total waste of money even the beer was flat...

One of the first and best Portuguese restaurants in Hamburg turned into to worst between all Portuguese restaurants and in Landungsbrücken since it good new management. If you are reading this and already sitting on the restaurant, keep it simply. Order something that the cook will have to cook at the moment, like: grilled fish and order only fish you know.I ordered a shark stake and it was the strangest I have ever seen, another waiter comes and ask if the sword fish is OK and in the end I discover I have just eaten a cheap Butterfish.

The full name of this restaurant is Sagres & Benfica, not just Sagres. We went here as it looked good from the outside, menu looked good and so on. Frankly though there are too many Portuguese restaurants in this area. Located about a 10 minute walk from the Madison Hotel and near the main street that runs along the harbor. We had Filete Cordeir forno and Lobinhos porco. Neither of which were all that great. The best thing here was the beer. There are many restaurants in the area, have a look around. If a last resort it is not terrible, but I definitely would not return unless it was a last resort.

There are two Sagres restaurants in Hamburg - one is just a little more refined and pretencious than the other. I myself prefer the bar like Sagres for it's jolly serving staff and it's laid back ambience. If you are a lover of fish this restaurant will satisfy your every desire. I started with grilled sardines and completed with a seafood platter. It was impossible to finish the dish which was full of variety and cooked to perfection. I accompained the fine food with one or two Ratsherrn Premium Pilseners! This is definitely a place to arrive early in the evening on a warm summer's evening and take your time to enjoy the food and the atmosphere!

we bumped into this restaurant and were not familiar with the Portugese kitchen .. the place was quite full (Saturday evening) but we were seated at a table for six and much later another couple was seated at the other end of the table .. we started with a platter with Portugese 'tapas' just to get an impression of the different things (sardines, calamari rings, artichoke, cheese, prosciutto, a sort of sausage) .. then we had the fish stew Portugese style as a main course .. with large chuncks of fish, some mussels and nice veggies .. the red house wine we drank was really nice .. all in all a pleasant place and tasty food (lots of fish dishes) and for a very reasonable price ..

We found this place while exploring Hamburg Harbour and had passed many Portuguese restaurants nearby to get there, due to a recomendation of a local. It looks like an authentic Portuguese restaurant or taverna from former times where nothing has been updated, including, sadly, the bathrooms, which are not good. The menus are old and worn and the whole place has an air of decay. However, the waiter is efficient enough and there is plenty of fish to choose from. We had grilled fish with fried poitatoes and side salad and it was fine. The half litre of house red wine was very good and the price was OK. I think the place could do with a little updating whilst retaining it's old world charm.

Got there during full dinner time so the restaurant was full to the last seat. Waiter still offered us to wait at the bar and to have a wine on the house. Got seated on a nice table in the main dining room after 10-15 minutes which was o.k. The restaurant itself has an athmosphere and is decorated just like any tavern or restaurant you will find everywhere in Prortugal, so it is a genuine ambience. Selection on the menu is typical Portuguise and offers a good variety of Entradas, Sopas, Carnes, Mariscos and desserts. We had fish stew, crabs and shrimp, and also tried the lamb fillet. Closed the culinary treat on a very nice evening with homemade Flan, coffee, and Portuguise brandy. We'll be...
