"My son and I were staying at the Hotel, and decided to have dinner here after a long day exploring.First, the service: Probably the most warm, friendly service we have had anywhere in Europe during our 2 week "mini grand tour. Although her English was a little rusty, she couldn't have been nicer to two Americans with almost no German. What a pleasant surprise. We each had the €40 Regional specialty menu, and it was superb. Started with a chef's gift of carpacchio and fresh melon, which was sublime, as was the basket of brot. The entree (appetizer) was a fantastiche salad with marinated artichoke hearts, white asparagus (local specialty), an incredible piece of salmon, and a garnish of crab meat. Out of this world. For the main course we each had the schnitzel, served with buttered parsley potatoes and more white asparagus. I've had scnitzle at Zum Schwartzen Kameel in Vienna, which is supposed to be the best in Europe, bit the Saarrburger Hof eclipsed it. Truly remarkable.Dessert was a plate with an assortment of treats, including local cheese, vanilla ice cream, a small slice of gingerbread cake with a sumptuous sauce, fresh berries, and a blended fruit parfait. We started the meal with Bittburger bier and had a lovely local wine with the entrees and main courses. Total bill was €105 including service which qualifies as a steal. A truly memorable meal and evening."
