We were hosted here by our friends and had an authentic meal. I would never have known the meat was pork as it was every-bit as good as a tender stake.

Family-run hotel in the heart of Idar-Oberstein with old charm. Owners are attentive and go out their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoy your stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the food is excellent and the service is beyond comparison! There is nothing negative I could ever say about our stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Idar-Oberstein.

Not only was the food unforgettable, but they were exceptionally helpful. To explain, we have fed with local friends with a 2 years old. The little one had an accident and the staff hopped directly to help, and they offered coloring book, pencils, a...appropriate puzzle. Oh, and did I mention the food? I had her spice roast and the woman had Hunter style port cutlet, both delicate and very tasteful. Very recommended.

When I lived in Germany years ago one of my favorite meals was an Idar Oberstein local dish called "Speissbraten". It is a pork steak (or beef or lamb) cooked slowly on a grill swinging over an open fire. The result is a piece of meat with a unique flavor that melts in your mouth! This is not fast food so order and sit back with a good glass of wine or beer and relax! Try the Haus wein, which was a good local Trochen Reisling! Enjoy!

We were the only people in the restaurant when we had lunch here, but it was early and from season when we stopped. The food was delicious, my brother in the law actually brought us there so that he could get the pig steak that they do... because it's a favorite of him. It is a very nice building and we enjoyed our meal. Be warned when you order the pork steak, it takes a while to cook! We had no hurry and it was nice to sit and relax before we went out for the rest of the day.
