"Arrived with family (4 adults, 1 child for a pre theatre meal (arrived 5 mins late but called in advance to advise . We were seated quickly and unfortunately that is where the good part of the experience ends. After 25 mins looking at the menu with nobody approaching us we asked a passing waitress if we could order. Food was ordered, and starters arrived after about 15 mins, small portions but reasonable quality. Then the wait began.... 40 mins later and several reminders that we had theatre tickets, the food arrived. We had observed food on the pass for approx 15 mins and sadly this was delivered to our table, bearly warm and overcooked. Chewy fish, inedible burger and chewy chicken in a sauce that was essentially passata with peppers and certainly did not match the menu description! We began to eat the warm/bland food as no time to send it back however my sisters meal did not arrive. After several minutes my sister went up to the waitess and asked where her meal was, the waitress asked the chef, in front if my sister, where her meal was, to which he replied, 'oh I must have forgotten to cook it '. The chef then asked my sister if he wanted her to cook it now to which she replied that she did. My sisters meal came out 10 minutes after ours, we had finished eating so she ate alone. At no point did anybody ask if our meals were ok they really weren 't! Nobody asked about allergies (I thought this was now a requirement in restaurants? And we weren 't offered any other drinks or desserts but in all honestly we waited so long we didn 't have time. The restaurant was half empty so this cannot be blamed for the poor experience. I asked to speak to the manager, none available. My sisters main meal was taken off the bill and 25% discount applied however this did not make up for spoiling our night. We have visited this restaurant a number of times previously but sadly this is likely to be our last."

Good food in a modern setting, which I thought was reasonably priced for a city. Within easy distance of the Empire Theatre.

Surprisingly lovely meal. Beautiful restaurant, good service, nice atmosphere and gorgeous food. We ate here before the theatre. Great value menu. Will definitely return!

We went for a meal after a matinee performance at the Empire theatre. It is only a short walk from the theatre. We were made very welcome and had a superb meal. The main courses delicious and the pudding fantastic. Great staff and a very relaxed feel.

We have been coming here for a good few years now, every month or so before we see a show at the Empire Theatre. The pre- theatre menu is brilliant value for money, really lovely food, and the service brings us back time and time again. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Graham particularly always remembers us and makes us feel so welcome and we always look forward to a visit.

Only went in here out of desperation. We were going to theEmpire and were in a hurry, everywhere else was busy. Barmaid was extremely helpful and friendly and told us what chef could provide the quickest. My son had a child’s chicken nuggets, chips and beans and it was a huge portion. I just had egg mayonnaise sandwiches but they were very nice and served with a small bowl of salad. The actual restaurant next door looked very nice and we will return.

Booked to go for a pre-theatre meal but was disappointed with the service. It took 40 minutes after ordering to get the food. There were 5 of us and 2 of the meals, steaks, were ordered rare and medium rare and both came well done. Complained but given the time did not send back. We were experiencing to order a second course but did not have time. Poor service and badly cooked food. Won't be going back there. Shame they didn't even bat an eyelid when told them they did bad an apology would have gone a long way. Also ordered a side and had to remind then that they had not brought it out. Not a good experience.

We stayed at the Liner hotel so decided to have a few drinks in the Castaway Bar we found out it was happy hour but they had nothing that we fancied.I soon ordered a pint of Stella at £4.75 and then asked for a diet coke to my horror she poured a pint and charged me over £4 for it she then said would you like another pint as it is part of the happy hour.I could not believe she did have anything about her to just give us a small coke then offer us a double up.I did not complain mainly because I was convinced she would understand me.We then watched the England Wales world cup game the atmosphere of the bar was dead and it did not help that the tv had sub titles on for the whole game.

Ate in the brasserie both evenings for reasons explained in my review of the hotel! Menu is what I would call 'small but perfectly formed ' with good veggie options. The lovely Dale at reception kindly gave me a 25 percent discount voucher on my first evening, meaning a starter dessert came to a mere £10, the following evening a different starter dessert didn 't come to that much more! The food was excellent both evenings I just had to have a chat with the chefs to let them know how much I enjoyed their dishes. The halloumi salad was so delicious I almost had it the second evening, but went for the bruschetta instead, which I also enjoyed very much. The chefs asked what I had eaten which of...
