"I had booked about a week before but it was hardly necessary as there were only 2 other people in the room. Was greeted at entrance politely and escorted to tabel and issued with menus. Decided on smoked salmon statrter which was excellent and just the right portion. Main course was Roast Beef which was also excellent. The accompaniments were really good large Yorkshire, roast potatos and savoy? cabbage gravy. The portions were just about right but it was so delicious that I ate the lot! I had a glass of claret which, again, was very good. Two disappointments The complete lack of atmosphere due to empty room. I thought it a little overpriced as lunch came to 71:00 to which 12 1/2% service charge was added which I think is lot for 1 person. However the food and service were first class and as it is such an iconic venue, I suppose that must expect to pay top dollar."

It's a nice experience to have Sunday roast here where they have an elegant dining room and meat being wheeled around for carving tableside.

Still the best roast beef I have ever eaten served by some of the friendliest and most professional staff. It 's an absolute no brainer when I get asked what my 'last meal ' would be: Sunday roast at Simpson 's In The Strand with extra horseradish!!
