"We had not visited the John Selden for some time but recently called into the establishment at lunchtime. There is a reasonably sized free car park and in old fashioned terminology there is a public bar and a saloon bar/restaurant. The decoration is tasteful and the seating arrangements are comfortable. There were three real ales available on the day of our visit and the price of a pint was the modern day average at £3.70. The beer was in good condition. There was a typical pub menu with a 'something for everyone ' provided their tastes were not exotic. However what the pub lacked was any personal warmth or greeting. On arriving at the bar a gaunt looking humourless man simply said yes . I then ordered two pints of beer and the only other utterance was Seven pounds forty !! There was no good morning sir, how are you or perhaps good morning what can I get you . There was no please or Thank you , just a grunt as if you were a nuisance even being there. This man and the staff need to go on some sort of customer focus course or attend a public relations seminar. It was all MOST unwelcoming. Would we re-visit. No not really, unless stuck in that area without transport."

This local pub is a fantastic spot for drinks. It's the perfect place to spend a Friday night with friends, listening to music on the jukebox. The prices are reasonable and Steve always provides excellent service.

We visited this pub for the first time to see the Bob Brooks Desperate Dan Band . (highly recommended). A great gig venue, we had a meal there as well. The staff were friendly and efficient the food was excellent the whole experience was very enjoyable. We will definitely make a return visit.

It serves beer. That’s the end of the good points. If you want to spend time in the company of the friends your great grandparents this is the place for you. If, however, you are under 90 and visit a pub for a good night out and entertainment avoid at all cost. Casual drinkers be aware, this is a non swearing pub. View menu

You go at the counter and wait to be served, 4 bartenders behind the counter and they do not really seem interested in you or in any customers service act. Moreover, if you are a new customer, they will serve the usual one, before you no matter what. The place itself is cool, but had a very poor customer service yesterday, hopefully it was just a coincidence, but it was bad enough for me to not come back.

We ate here one lunchtime during the week. We sat in the quiet courtyard area out the back which looked like it had been newly paved. We all enjoyed our food and the food and drink prices were reasonable. I only gave 4 stars as I had a Ploughman’s which came with a soft roll which fell apart; it would be preferable to have a piece of crusty baton with this. The outside front seating area also looks nice with fake grass and large pots of flowers. Would return and recommend. View menu

We had friends from Haywards Heath join us for lunch today at this wonderful restaurant. The food was perfect, with incredibly large portions of cod and chips, as well as scampi and chips. The pub had a very friendly atmosphere, with many interesting artifacts on display, some related to the area and some not. It is a village pub with a rich history and we will definitely be visiting again, likely within the next month. There are plenty of activities to participate in, such as golf societies and a visit from the Morris dancers in September. We also enjoyed the artificial grass outside. Keep up the great work, we had a fabulous experience!

A member of our group made a reservation at this restaurant, which has a cozy atmosphere. The girl working behind the bar was friendly and helpful. I ordered a white wine, which was decent but not exceptional. They also offer a variety of gins for those interested. For our meals, I chose the fish pie, which was tasty but had a somewhat amateur presentation of mashed potatoes on top. It came with a white bread roll that one of my friends enjoyed to balance the spiciness of her Thai green curry. The ham, egg, and chips dish was satisfying, while the lasagne was decent but had an overwhelming amount of cheese. Overall, it was a pleasant evening with reasonably priced food.
