"My family (myself, my mum, my sister, daughter, and grandson) went to a carvery on Boxing Day. We should have known it wouldn't be good when we were the only ones there. We arrived at twenty past one and were told they stopped serving the carvery at two o'clock. We noticed how empty it was and were informed it had been like that all afternoon. We ordered our drinks and got our starters, which were pureed vegetable soup served in cold bowls. When we mentioned this to the waitress, the chef came out with a thermometer and said the soup was actually hot, but the cold bowls had made it go cold quickly. The carvery was disappointing as well - the meat (pork or beef) was tough and chewy, and the vegetables were just warm and looked like they had been sitting under heat lamps for a while. There was even a skin on top of the gravy. We decided to skip dessert. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant at all. I can't speak for the hotel itself as we didn't stay there, but I wouldn't now."

The breakfast options at this restaurant were plentiful, with a variety of choices including a hot buffet, cereals, toast, croissants, and more. In the evenings, guests could enjoy a roast dinner each night along with a variety of other meal options.

The food was delightful compliments to the chef and the service was excellent Even though all the staff were nice and friendly the two young lads Owen Jamie provided an excellent service and both worked very hard. They were friendly and helpful Nice to see these days will definitely visit again. View menu

Wow! If you are not picky about what you eat, then you might be fine. This place should not be called a restaurant, more like a cafeteria. The carvery option is not up to par with any pub we have been to before. I would recommend avoiding this place, it is not worth the money (and we even got it for free!).

Breakfasted at 09.00, very good range of food, juices etc but over cooked by the time we got there. Bacon desiccated, eggs rubbery. No tea pots, fill your cup from thermos. Cold by the time you added the milk. Kept banging head on low level lamp fittings every time I left the table. Staff indifferant to clients.

The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was nice, i can recommend the sea bass. The only down side is the atmosphere, it felt like a works canteen so not a place for a romantic meal (even with the Christmas decorations that were up in October. Prices average or the meal types but they were cooked and presented well. Breakfast was good too. View menu

Where do I start.......The barman/waiter had absolutely zero personality. It was like he was doing me a favour serving me.I had a tomato and basil soup and a sandwich for 9.95.It was shockingly salt was all I tasted.it came with a salad with no dressing and corn chips that where stale. The sandwich (mature cheddar ham and chutney)was as bad slimey cheap ham and corn chips where more mature than the cheese.....overall one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in a hotel

Had to dine here as staying at the hotel. Nothing else nearby. Food is awful and as bad as the hotel. I tried to play safe and had a steak and kidney pie with vegetables. They were frozen and cold when biting into them. Upon ordering I asked for peas and extra veg which I paid for but after waiting whilst eating some of this gloop the waiter said they had run out of veg?? I left the meal as it was inedible to return to the nightmare of the room in such a terrible run down place. The entire stay was a nightmare! Don't eat or stay here unless you want frozen veg and a terrible overall experience.

"What a wonderful place! We booked our table in the morning via their website inquiries for 5pm on a Saturday evening. They emailed us shortly after to confirm our booking, very hassle free and quick. We parked nearly at the local carpark and walked a few minutes to the restaurant. We were seated as soon as we arrived at the restaurant. We ordered our food and drinks, drinks came extremely quickly and the starters not long after. We ordered the spicy sausage, prawns and mussels as our starter. What can I say! The food was delicious, soft and creamy. I can honestly say this was some of the best starters I've ever had. After having starters I was more hungry than when I arrived at the restaurant in anticipation of the main course. The main course arrived shortly after we had finished our starters. The main course continued to hit the high standards of the starters. We had ordered the seafood risotto and the lamb chops. The lamb chops were juicy and tender, cooked to perfection. The seafood risotto was rich and creamy, every bite was full of flavour. Once we had finished our mains, we were so impressed that we ordered even more food. We ordered another prawn starter, the salmon starter, tiramisu and vanilla cheesecake with strawberries. The high standards continued all the way through the rest of our meal. The service was second to none! We were served very quickly and the host was very knowledgeable of the food and the menu. She suggested the best way to have the lamb chops. The host even noticed that I had a wobbly plate and rectified it immediately without any prompt from myself and my partner. She encouraged me to fully try the starters including the salad that I ignored which was delicious, I could not fault her service and professionalism. If you are ever in the area and get the opportunity to eat here, I cannot recommend this highly enough!"

In Widnes, Carlos has created more than a restaurant; he has crafted a culinary haven where passion and flavour converge. Be sure to also check the daily specials board on the rear wall, my personal favourite is the Tomahawk steak (see pictures). Great value."
