"we had a night stay in kirchzarten and that was about the next meal of our hotel. it was a warm evening and so we wanted to sit outside, we were met by a very charming gent, who immediately spoke impeccable English and showed us our table. the available menu was in English. then a young guy took over us, who was again very pleasant and helpful. he helped to choose dinner and accompanied wine (which was super a local white wine). eating was very good, as well as we had with the service, this made a great evening. during the meal the sky opened together with thunder and flash, so we pulled inside, it was only that we realized that the restaurant was practically full in the interior (that was a Tuesday night). this is a really good restaurant built on good food and great customer service."

"We ate here on a Friday night. We arrived at around and were asked if we’d booked a table. We hadn’t and looking around I struggled to see why. We were given a table but within minutes the restaurant was completely full. The...food is traditional German fare. I had the Zigeuner Schnitzel which was actually two pork cutlets and my wife had the Mexican pork salad. The food was plentiful. In fact I’d go so far as to say the portions were massive. The food was very tasty and enjoyable. The waitress was very chatty and friendly and made us feel welcome. The bill was reasonable especially given the number of beers we added to the meal. Two things to bear in mind are that the restaurant is only open on Thursday to Sunday, and that they do not take credit/debit cards. It is strictly cash only. That said we had a very good and enjoyable meal and would come back again."

"The restaurant is curiously located inside a shopping mall. It would probably best be described as a bar that serves a lot of different foods than a fullblown restaurant. It also has a beer garden. The waiters were friendly and informal but very attentive. They...were helpful in offering tasters of the different beers, so as to assist your selection In fact the “tasters” were not insubstantial in themselves. The menu included German fare, salads and pasta dishes. The restaurant seems to be popular with locals which is always a good sign. The portions were a good size and very tasty. Each night seems to have different “theme” in terms of one night being Steak Night, another being Schnitzel Night etc. Food and drink are reasonably priced. We would have no hesitation in returning if next in the area"

"Ziemlich abgelegen im hintersten Winkel des am äußersten Rand gelegenen Freiburger Ortsteils Kappel liegt das historische Gasthaus Zum Kreuz. Beim Vorbeifahren stellt man sich eine einfache Bauernstube vor, wo man vielleicht mit etwas Glück eine Bratwurst oder ein Jägerschnitzel bekommt. Doch weit gefehlt: Schon ein kurzer Blick auf die Karte verrät, daß es sich um ein Feinschmeckerrestaurant mit entsprechend gehobenem Preisniveau handeln dürfte.An diesem milden sonnigen Samstagabend ist im Garten kein Platz mehr frei. Die Bedienung zaubert aber doch einen Tisch herbei, der für Gäste reserviert war, die dann doch lieber drinnen speisten. Der Service ist ausnahmslos freundlich und um die Gäste bemüht, unverkennbar jedoch auch etwas umständlich und leicht überfordert anmutend. Bei uns lief mit der Bestellung aber alles rund. Die überbackene Schneckensuppe (eine überschaubare Portion) war sehr lecker, weil der Sud mit der Sahne und den kleingeschnittenen Schneckenteilen eine ideale Verbindung einging. Das recht üppig portionierte Hauptgericht war den Preis von 27 Euro in jedem Fall wert: ein superzarter und geschmackvoller Rücken vom Weidelamm an einer hervorragend dazu passenden Soße, dazu allerlei frisches Gemüse (Kohlrabi, Karotten, Erbsen, Zucchini, Blumenkohl, Brokkoli) und frische, saftig schmeckende Bratkartoffeln, außerdem Kürbispüree und weiteres mehr. Sehr gelungen auch das Lammgulasch der Begleiterin mit einer Rotweinsoße samt einem superfrischen Salat und feinem Dressing. Anstelle der Salzkartoffeln bekam sie auf Anfrage kleine Knödel, von denen sie ebenfalls begeistert war."

"18.7.2014 baden- württemberg has now awarded an inclusive price as the last country. as the first institution the academy received this prize under 250 today. I am very pleased and congratulate all those who are involved in this beautiful success and hope for a lot of imitative projects. further! if prejudice the reality will sometimes be amazed. who visits this restaurant and perhaps also stays can confirm it, unless the hospitable white in social assistance projects for disadvantaged people in our society regionally and comprehensive. they come into a well-maintained house, disabled, beautifully decorated in black forest style with great stubborn, flow-hearted and native. friendly staff asks for the wish, brings an imposing menu, it tastes excellent and there are among others the regional wine or the pilger from the regional brewery in the neighboring burg. the only thing that is noticeable after a certain time is that personal work is conspicuously concentrated. always friendly, starts a talk with the hospitable, is more attentive than they are used at many other places. these people live for their work and go up to see that joy makes and leads to the surprise mentioned at the beginning. they have something in common. all these people did not want to include the labour market. Why not? because today we are no longer giving people the time they need for proper completion of the work! does everyone really have to be successful through everyday? many are not coming. a sad knowledge that goes through the head when you sneak in the heavenly quarter. since decades this famous restaurant is known under the name gasthof to the heavenly, although it is closer to the grödner grödner (near the grödner grödner in the black forest) than the sky. a very social, brave man from church types has integrated and transformed this house into a social project, a concept that should allow young people with an impediment (I am consciously not disabled), a normal, fearless working life. besides the house administration, this house of protection is for people who are brought to work from all over the region so that life is fulfilled again. admiration for this project! admiration for these people! recommended for those who want to be served once in the raum freiburg! every visit will make sure that people get their future! if I have traveled the opposite, I always like to go to dinner there and let the party finish there. 21.8.2012 there is a similar aid project on the island mainau, led by the Countess and social education sandra.
