The Angel On The Bridge

We had the Sunday Roast chicken, beer-battered fish chips, scampi chips, and seafood chowder. Everything was great, nothing special. However, the seafood chowder was slightly too salty. Plus points for the atmosphere beside the river Thames.

On a Summer's day in Henley this is the best place, but in fact the only place if you want to have a drink but the riverside. It's not the cheapest place to buy a drink. But the ambience is fantastic. With the historic Henley bridge and the rivee full of boats it's a wonderful setting.

The highlight of this charming English pub is definitely its beautiful riverside terrace. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially on a sunny day—definitely a spot I would recommend! The food was quite good, but I must say I fell in love with the desserts. Our table tried nearly every dessert on the menu, and each one was truly delicious. The food has a homemade touch—go Henley!

Traditional pub right on the river Thames with an outside terrace open in summer. We went this time in November and had an excellent meal. Good menu with vegetarian and gluten free options. About £14 each for a main meal plus drinks. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We have been here in the summer when it gets very busy due to its prime Riverside position but its also great in the winter.

Beside the River Thames, The Angel on the Bridge is a popular and pleasant pub with a large beer garden offering generous views of Henley Bridge. Go inside to order and pay for food and drinks. £3 for a small bottle of ginger beer and wine is poured into a plastic stumpy glass with three levels of pricing (small medium and large). At the bar were small bowls of assorted nuts, olives and pork scratchings for £4-£4.50. Jugs of Pimm's are available too.

Welcoming, friendly and great tasting food. I will remember this pub because they were great with my little one and interacted with him so well. They had a open fire going and gave him a marshmallow to toast which he loved. A great selection of drinks as well as food. The food and service was friendly and professional and we will definitely be back. The food was tasty and also arrived quickly. The pub is in a perfect location as you'll see from the photos and is a 5 minute walk from the train station.

Amazing pub both inside and out! It's cosy inside with different nooks and crannies. Outside, there are plenty of tables perched overlooking the river. Service is great too. Outside has its own small bar with plenty of bar staff meaning you don't have to wait to be served. The food has also impressed when I've been there. At other places, often when you order a steak baguette, the steak is so tough you have to eat it separate to the baguette no matter how hard you try to eat it together. That's not the case at the Angel! The steak was so tender it was a joy to eat.

I enjoyed the food, particularly the variety of vegetarian options available, such as the leek and feta pastry. I also appreciated that they offered smaller portion sizes for main dishes at a reduced price, which is perfect for lunch. The staff were friendly and attentive, though they could have been quicker at clearing tables. My main concern was regarding the cleanliness of the outdoor toilets on the riverside, which were not up to par. Aside from this, I would still recommend visiting The Angel to enjoy the lovely views. I didn’t explore other areas of the pub, so my comments are limited to the riverside seating, but it’s a well-known spot in Henley-on-Thames.

This is a fantastic pub located right on the Thames in Henley, offering stunning views. Although the menu is small, it's not lacking in variety—this is a promising sign for a pub. They emphasize fresh food, and the quality certainly backs that up! We tried the burger and fries to share among a few of us, and it was absolutely delicious. While there's no on-site parking, there are plenty of good parking options within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and has a great sense of humor.
