"We came to this pub on a Saturday night expected it to be good on the strength of the reviews......however........ The first surprise is the fact there's no parking available. We managed to park down the road but it got us off to a...bad start. The food service was good can't complain about that but we were seated by the window and that is is littered with dead flies spiders!! The whole window area needs cleaning. The table seats are covered in stains it all just needs sorting out with a deep clean. Sadly we won't be returning here."

Visited twice while on holiday this week. Really enjoyed the cakes excellent value even if the famous Tuesday cake night isn't happening at the moment. Friendly service will surely return next time in the area.

Our favorite meal to date has been so lovely. The staff were really friendly, receiving the value for money was fantastic. Coordinated measures without being OTT. Food was really delicious, we can't wait to come back!

We were all so happy with the food and service yesterday we came back again today with the other half of our family. Even the kids ate every last bite. Great food, ingredients and service again! And the cocktails are yummy too

Came here on Sunday evening on our holiday, we had 2 chilli con carne and a roast beef. All the food was amazing, really good portions and reasonably priced, one of our favourite meals whilst on holiday. The staff were very attentive and service was...good. View menu

Had visited here a couple of years ago and enjoyed a family meal with great service. The latest visit was as good as the first if not better, great food, very friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. Great for families looking for a holiday meal...in a traditional setting.

We are a family of six and we stayed here four times in our two week stay, so good we had to come back! All the food was amazing, really good portions and very cheap. It was definitely our favorite meal while on vacation. The staff was very friendly and service was fab : thank you.

Booked a table by phone earlier in the morning . Choice of 4 roasts on the menu , I had the belly pork which came with some cracking crackling ! Besides the vegetables on our plate we also had a dish of cauliflower cheese .Not...the tidiest restaurant but clean and the food is great value . View menu

Having read a number of reviews we were looking forward to our visit sadly when we eventually got the landlady to open the door as they had forgotten to unlock we were hit by a very musty smelling pub which put us off so we...decided to leave without making a purchase. However we found a gem of a pub nearby The Smugglers Den try this one and skip the Anvil

We had a delicious meal at this establishment. We all ordered pies as these came highly recommended by local people we talked to and we weren’t disappointed. The pies were literally the best pies We’ve ever had, match that with a good portion of fresh...veg and potato and we were in heaven. The gravy was rich and delicious too. The staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend a visit. Thanks to everyone for a great night out.
